Quick update, Put the Stream radio back in, Took car out to get yellow warning light to go off but it wont, No codes stored, Disconnected the battery now and leave it over night,,, Why is nothing simple and straightforward with these cars...…….

you need to change the gateway, it will be behind the glovebox

Thanks Eddie, Will it need coding to my car? If so how easy/difficult is it to do with VCDS?

Yes and relatively easy, I did it as a virgin VCDS owner.

Any advice on how to do it?

I cant recall sorry, I just followed what I had found from Google, most of which led back to this site.

Make a copy of your current settings, look at the coding options on the new one, select the required options including the one for the Bolero unit, its probably called something different.

As I used a Chinese head unit I tried various selections including pehaps no radio, cant recall, each of them throw up a fault code during a scan of radio not found, also comfort module incorrectly coded and now for some reason its also looking for and failing to find a Bluetooth module that the vehicle never had.

I donr really care about the above other than wanting a clean scoresheet with no red error codes, what is important is the canbus now shuts down when it should.

Can it be a second hand one as there's plenty on Ebay or does it have to be brand spanking new one?

I used an E-bay one.

Just need a bit more advice about coding,  Does the coding of the newer CAN BUS mean that whatever the old one had ticked off  in the check boxes the newer one has to have the same boxes ticked with VCDS ?     or is it more to it than that?

That's about it.
