Tyre size for Superb 2

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

is anyone of you using the 215/50R17 tyres in your superb 2? I know for this wheel dimention the recommended size is 225/45, but as I want to get more comfort, I'm thinking of buying the new summer tyres in this size.

Any opinions?

215/50R17 fitted to 7.5Jx17 rims is not a comfort option. You are stretching the tyre sidewalls more than you would by fitting 225/45R17 tyres.

For the best comfort on the Skoda Superb MK2 fit 205/55R16 on 6Jx16 rims.

Alcar 9535 6Jx16 ET50 5/112 57.1 (14-hole design)

mytyres are usually cheaper than oponeo for steel rims. The oponeo link is for the photo.

Actually I have bought the 7Jx17 rims, so the tyre size 215 is fitting perfectly according to various calculators.

For winter I have 205/55R16 and the comfort if quite good. I used to have 18 inch rims for summer, but I sold it, because the polish roads don't make the ride comfortable at this size.

As far as ride comfort goes, 215/50R17 tyres fitted to 7J rims will be between 205/55R16 tyres fitted to 6.5J rims (most comfortable) and 245/45R17 tyres fitted to 7.5J rims (least comfortable).

205/50R17 tyres fitted to 6.5J rims will give similar ride comfort to 215/50R17 tyres fitted to 7J rims, and don't have the downside of raising your gearing by 2% compared to 225/45R17 tyres.

I went 225/50 instead...

And how does it ride? I finally decided for 215/50R17 as the size you have chosen seems to me a bit too big. But  I didn't know that post before, so from now on my point of view can change :)

Very comfy.

My main priority was pothole protection, but the added comfort was very welcome too. So much so I never went back and replaced these tyres with more of the same size...
