Vehicle powers up on drivers door opening

Featured Replies

I own a Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI on an 11 plate. When the drivers door is opened after it is unlocked I hear the electronics fire up with an additional wine which I'm assuming is the high pressure fuel system. My Octavia is developing an intermittent fault which causes the electronics not to operate after the door is unlocked and open. I can turn the engine over but it never fires. Only when I hear the wine does the engine fire up. It is a relay fault? or something to do with the high pressure system.

Many thanks

The whine or what I would call the whirr is a the lift pump, low pressure, high volume.  Gets fuel from tank to the engine bay. The HPFP is in the engine bay and delivers very high pressure fuel to the fuel rail of the injectors.

You could have a faulty lift pump in the tank which is giving intermittent service.

have you checked the wires in the door opening????

LPFP, HPFP, leak in injectors etc etc

Do you have VCDS?
