Rear passenger door lock/window!

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

Hope you're all keeping well. My rear passenger door is currently causing me grief (P/S/R). The car is a 2011 Skoda Superb MKII 2011

These are the symptoms:

  • Window doesn't operate using the local drivers switch panel
  • Window works from it's own switch panel (even with the ignition off)
  • Interior lights do not come on when the door is opened
  • Door open warning on dash does not illuminate when the door is open
  • Door remains unlocked when all other doors are locked

This issue has been documented a number of times as I've seen.

I changed/replaced the following based on what I have read on other posts:

  • Replaced drivers door wiring loom
  • Replaced P/S/R door module
  • inspected P/S/R wiring
  • Checked all fuses

I'm completely baffled. Took the car to my mechanics and came back with no connection to P/S/R door module. Has anyone else experienced this? Any pointers or tips?

Many thanks in advance 👍

Check the drivers door loom as that is where the main power comes from that powers all the other door modules.

A very common problem wish you came here sooner would more than likely saved you all that expense.

So the door loom had about 4 snapped wires. They were repaired but the P/S/R window remained the same. Checked here and everything still pointed at the drivers door loom. Assuming it was still the culprit, I went and purchased a new loom from TPS incase there was a small break somewhere but to no avail

drivers door?

Yes sorry. Drivers door loom had 4 snapped wires. Drivers door loom was repaired but the issue persisted with the rear passenger door.

Decided to replace drivers door loom incase I missed a wire

Inspected p/s/r door loom, everything looked tip top

Replaced p/s/r door module, made no difference

All fuses have been checked and ruled out. Door is confirmed to be receiving power

Completely baffled!

@MatthewAtif

I am sure the door module needs programmed to the car with vcds after replacement

I cant remember the colour of the wire but it was an extremely thin one that was causing my problems only by doing continuity check did I find it

This is after repairing the loom for obvious breaks
I recommend getting a meter on to it and start checking each and every wire for breaks or high resistance

I thought the same but I've spoken to my local Skoda tech yesterday. The module is plug and play, as long as both part numbers match exactly.

I'll get the meter out and double check the wires again tomorrow. Would you or anyone recommend anything else?

Many thanks @DEL80Y for all your input thus far!

I don't believe that's correct...

Rosstech certainly suggest that new door modules will need coding on a MK5/MK6 which are very similar electronically to the MK2 Superb: http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/VW_Golf_(1K)_Door_Electronics_Rear

An autoscan from VCDS or similar may help.

Am sure I was told that they came in virgin state and had to coded to car so that the control unit knows what is fitted to that particular car

Huge thanks to @DEL80Y for all the help and @langers2k for the link. I found a snapped wire in the front passenger door loom inside the rubber boot which I repaired. Rear left door now works flawlessly.

Hope this can help someone!
