Door protectors

Featured Replies

Last year i bought a set of door protectors, the long ones that go the width of the door.

I'm trying to figure out exactly, which is the best height to put them?

Do you put them on, where the door sticks out the most?

Or, a bit further down, taking into account how far they stick out?

I’d stick them in the bin. The most protruding part of the door to stick out will vary from vehicle to vehicle so they’re not really going to off that much protection.

Looks are of course subjective.

I've just fitted these, at this height on the basis that they are more likely to stop other peoples' doors hitting the paintwork. They aren't, however, items for the Octavia. They are Automotiva Seat Alhambra Mk2 ones, with the rear door ones cut down slightly.

Hi Peter, how did you figure out how high to put them? 🤔

By eye really. I decided that the position was about right for both protection and the look. They are 32cm from the bottom of the door. I decided that putting them where Automotiva state was neither use nor ornament.

Yes your right about where they are in the picture.

Even the later Scouts than mine has them at the bottom of the door.

I'll put a measure on the door tomorrow, i was measuring from the ground.

I think it is down to to how you want it to look and where you think the protection is best. I am happy with where I've got them and reckon it will give the best protection against people who can't be bothered to to be careful opening their doors. I've got them in a similar position on my Citigo.

Although some people won't find them pleasing to the eye they do offer protection from morons in carparks denting your door panels. Perhaps some internal magnetic fixings in them just for these supermarket / parking occasions.

Ben, what an idea for Dragon's Den. 🤔

You could also put them on the side of the trolley 🛒 😂

They look good mate, better than a dented door. Make sure they don't trap water and become rust traps though.

I used to have a big rubber strip on the garage wall because sooner or later I'd open the car door too far and hit the wall. I used a big wrist rest from a computer supplier place, it was ideal.

Hi Peter, measured mine this morning, that was basically where i got mine to measuring from the ground.

VRS, i stuck carpet squares on the wall many years ago.
