Suspension clunk on nearside - vRS

Featured Replies

So, ive had my mechanic look multiple times, he couldn't see anything wrong, ended up replacing a front anti roll bar bush on the nearside, to no effect.

Im not too mechanically minded, but ive lifted it up, and no play on the wheel. However, some time ago I remember holding on to the wheel when the problem was still slight, and it moved in and out a fair amount (as in towards and away from me), but not sideways. What should I be checking and looking at?

Front or rear console bushes ? Maybe play in a ball joint also.

I'd go for rear console bushes as the first one to check

Ah, had a quick search and symptoms sound familiar to me. Will check tomorrow morning!

Anti-roll bar drop links are a prime candidate too.

Drop links seem fine and stiff. Now I'm no mechanic, but safe to say that bush is my problem...? 😄 attached the pic of the loose CV joint as I've been having clicking on steering forever too.

Is this what is called a console bush aka lower wishbone arm rear bush?

Yes that's a console bush.

...and it looks ruined and ripe for replacement with something firmer.

You'll notice a big difference in how it drives when those console bushes are sorted
