Electric tailgate

Featured Replies

Anyone sussed out a way of closing it from inside the car ? I know it can be opened but to shut it needs to be done from outside. Couldn't see any answers but if I've missed one....

I get SWMBO to press the button on the tailgate to close mine and I stay in the car if she is going into the shop.:notme:

@Gizmo will be able to point you in the right direction - depending upon when your car was built.

It’s a 2018 model. Just wondering if anyone had found a modification or not. Swmbo is fed up of being on door closing duty 😂

Perhaps it's time to trade her in for a more co-operative button operative?:blush

I appreciate why this mod would be good for you Paul but IIRC your car is too new for the VCP tweak.

Unless anyone knows differently......

Correct only the 2015 and some early 2016 cars can be coded with VCP to do this.

Since moving from Superb to Kodiaq this whole thing puzzles me even more. You can close the Kodiaq tailgate from the inside, which eliminates any safety considerations from the decision to not implement it in the Superb. I wonder why they persist in not making the function available?

My thoughts exactly.
The MKIII Octavia can also be coded with VCDS 🤔

@Gizmo I saw elsewhere that some have mentioned a file to uploaded that permits this function - is this not something you'd receommend? I asked the question elsewhere and got this reply:

Providing the 6D controller part numbers are identical then it’s fine.

Problems arise if you try to put for example a ‘G’ file onto a ‘J’ controller etc.
