Heated windscreen connector location.

Featured Replies

Morning all.  this is a bit of a long shot, but does anyone know exactly where the connectors for the heated windscreen are located on the Yeti?  even better, does anyone have a photo of a yeti with the windscreen removed (ideally showing the connectors in situ!).   I've got an MOT fail-worthy chunk out of my windscreen, and I'm thinking that it is a good opportunity to add the only feature I think is missing from my Yeti, a heated screen (well, ignoring a heated steering wheel actually...)

From the wiring diagrams, I think there are 3 connections, two power and one return.  It looks from photos of windscreens I have seen using google, the power connectors are along the bottom edge, but it is not clear.  the return connection is apparently in the roof rail, so presumably this is central, near where the rain and light sensors are connected?

many thanks!

Most unlikely the wiring is there if the car did not have this factory fitted. These days the wiring loom is built up to the exact needs of the vehicle it is going into. You could replicate the connection though, fit a switch with timer and connect to a disused fuse holder. Lot of work though.

I have read on here of Yeti's with heated screens installed, probably as a damage replacement, yet the screen is not connected, and couldn't easily be done. Presumably only a screen with an element available when required.

The screen also needs the correct shading area to suit the mirror you have as well which itself may have demisiting elements inside and connection to the wiring.

Just out of interest, have you priced up how much the screen will be?

The excess on a replacement windscreen? 🙂

Well that would be fraud as you can only get like for like replacement under insurance. You could perhaps pay the extra cost, as windows with wires in are much more expensive to make

Are you aware that the "you" used twice in your posting should be directed at 2 different people?

I’m willing to bet they are not that stupid

How do you know it wasn't?

Heated screens versus their non-heated equivalents demand a significant premium, as this thread demonstrates...

It does also suggest that the windscreen fitting company was willing to allow the customer to pay the difference.

The Yeti uses the older style of heated screen with the heating elements embedded in the glass, compared to newer models that use the conductive film, so the price difference might not be so severe.

The Yeti also uses the same Climatronic control panel as the MkII Octavia and Superb, however only the Superb was available with a heated screen in the UK, so if you struggle to find a panel from a Yeti with the heated screen button there may be other options, albeit with a gloss backing...

I dont and my grammatical knowledge (zero) does not help me either.

Not being the recipient of the allegation its no skin off my nose but were I to have written it and intended "you" to adress 2 different people I would have used their usernames, in the absence it would indicate a response to the previous poster, posts can overlap but we are warned, I frequently have to add in someones username if another posting was made before my response.

Lock-down getting to someone?

Not here, but dont worry, I'm sure you will find someone else to play with.

Hi,

Did you ever get to retro fitting your heated windscreen? I would be interested to know if so, as am interested in doing this myself.

Jo

Connection points are either side in the scuttle area below the windscreen , they are long black connectors you can see them through the grille and the earthing  point is central to the windscreen on the inside of the roof.
