Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm thinking of getting the above car to use as a taxi, what should I look out for?

Any advice would be great

Thank you

Richard

Cyclists, pedestrians, low flying UFO's?

How many miles? I am a key worker and have been using mine every day I am at work and rather than using the train and the car certainly feels better for it. I would look for full service history, good interior and decent tyres. Any evidence of cambelt/water pump change. Make sure everything works correctly. My SE is over 3 years now and has done nearly 38K and feels like it will last forever.

My suspension squeaks a bit but overwise no problems with it. So really usual stuff with any used car.

Had pretty much the same car a few years ago in Elegance form, same engine and estate too. Main issue you'll face with manual version is that the car should have had six gears rather than five. My car couldn't drive at 30mph in fourth gear too well, as that gear is actually nearer a true fifth gear and fifth gear is more like sixth gear. For speeds in around 25mph towards 30mph the car drives better in third gear. It is pretty economical too, 60 plus mpg easily attainable on longer runs, never less than mid 40's mpg for me, light clutch and fairly smooth gear changes. If car is in good condition with service history, not much to worry about really.

People standing at the side of the road waving their arm. 😁

How old is the car / what mileage? I don't wish to sound sarcastic but make sure it wasn't previously used as a taxi.

What would be your typical taxi use? If it's stop/start around town then whilst a new/nearly new 1.6tdi might make sense if you're only going to keep it for a few years, I'd have thought you could be running in to DPF issues buying an older one.

Hi,

Thanks for all the replies. I have seen 2 cars the first one is a 66 plate and has done about  53000 miles and is £9650.

The second is a 17 plate has done about 28000 miles and is £11450

I was in one of those as a Taxi, the driver loved it, he had done well over 100k miles and as you would expect all he said was make sure you keep it serviced.
