Basic Xbox headset for kids

Featured Replies

Can anyone recommend a basic headset for a kid to use with an xbox?

I've had a look and can't quite figure out what is needed. Not sure if any 3.5mm set would work or if some usb adapter is needed for plugging it in. Wireless would be better tbh but I'm not paying that much for it since it might not get used much.

TIA

Turtle Beach are pretty good.

I have two sets; one is all singing all dancing with Bluetooth that you can connect your mobile to and was a treat when I became a civvy.  The other one is a little more basic. Regardless, they are both wireless and connect to the back of the Xbox via their control box and a slim cable that produces a red light out of it when you disconnect it (mdi?).

I know the expensive one is 5.1 surround sound, not sure about the cheaper one. Either way the sound quality and effects is pretty impressive; playing COD in a darkened room at Stupid O'clock in the morning is not for the faint of heart.

You may also wish to keep an ear out for the sound level they play at as they can be pretty loud, and I'm always adjusting the sound level on mine accordingly

Here is a link to Turtle Beach at Argos and you can compare specs and prices elsewhere.

Another option is if the tv the Xbox is connected to has Bluetooth, then you can buy a cheap pair of Bluetooth headphones to see if it's worth spending the extra on the gaming specific headphones. (the answer is always yes!)

I would also suggest investing in a decent battery charger and a lot of rechargeable batteries. Annoyingly, although both headsets are by Turtle Beach, one uses AA and the other AAA!
