Hi all, what's the difference between P21W (382) bulb and P21/5W (380) ?? I want to change a reverse light but don't know which one??

p21w bulbs are single filament 21 watt bulbs and p21/5w bulbs are dual filament bulbs (normally for a combined brake and taillight bulb), with one filament rated at 21w and the other at 5w.

 

So you're after the p21w bulb. And unless you've access to VCDS to recode, don't get LED bulbs, just get standard halogens. Those bulbs might say canbus friendly, but that's not a guarantee.

tunedude, there is thread somewhere on here that recommends a particular source for an LED bulb. Bought one and no problem with canbus. Did make a difference but not amazing. Car has a reversing camera and needed a bit of extra light at night.

I fitted these to my Octavia hatch.  Assume they'd be the same for the Combi.  Had them in for over 2 years now and no problems.  They don't need coding and are very bright and make a big difference.

It's always hit and miss. I've a set of canbus friendly indicators which work fine, no turbo flash and didn't need recoding. Another person I know used them and got an error and had to install a resistor.

GreenMachine would you upload a photo please how does it look like ?? Do you think the ones from Halfords might work??

If you search this forum there is a long post on this subject. I cannot comment on the Halford bulbs as I have not used them and I am not an expert. All I can say is I bought the ones recommended on this forum and they worked for me.
