Steering wheel issue

Featured Replies

Hello

During this covid lock down I started my fabia 2009 mdl after 20 days and drove 10 kms Found a new issue I think some else must have faced the same and can help me... While car was idling the streeing wheel started revolving on its own.. Tyres too moved along with it... Immediately I switch off the engine.. Started again went for 20km at good speed as roads are empty.. Then it Was fine.. While parking car in garage again same problem arised.. What must be issue? Can some one help me on this?

WOW! This is a new one on me... Never heard that before!

Have you had any warning lights come on? Do you have access to  code testing equipment?

Yes while driving I did get light on dash board.. I stopped and switched off engine and re started it was working fine...after 3kms I stopped the car in idling it started rotating towards the end left.. Some how I managed and came back home.. There is slack in streering some delayed response some time it is working fine

Haven't heard anything like that before probably best not to drive until you can get it looked

I thought may be car was not in use for more than 7 weeks ..one day before lock down started I have driven this vehicle for 1300kms to reach my city after that I started the car today does it make any changes in streering?

Will wheel calibration work on this?

Battery working fine? Could be that there's not enough power in the battery to run the power steering or somethings defective with your power steering. Check fluids etc.

Other than that if no works been done to the car I'd rule out steering rack issues etc.

Pump up tyres to correct pressure, run engine, turn from centre to full lock one way, then full the other way. turn off again. try this a few times and see if the funniness stops.

BTW, Have you checked the power steering fluid level? Also, check underneath for signs of fluid leaks.  As mentioned, good battery charge is almost always preferential.

Yes got it checked fluid is just below the mark.. But it contains metal... Pump has to be cleaned and fluid has to be changed but mechanic says it won't work as it has.. Suggested to change the pump...they are going to diagnose streering rack as well... To check how metal came in pipes n pump

Finally I got my car issues sorted it tool 2 weeks to get it done ..there was water mixed with fluid in the power steering pump and pipes connecting to steering rack  (which is very rare)...get the steering pump was a task and costed 380 USD for the steering pump..now the steering is smooth as new one
