Octavia RS newbie - Maybe

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I'm new here so roll out the abouse for asking the same old questions :1:

I'm looking to get an octavia RS. Test drove ablack one today. Nice. How does the black paintwork hold up. Does it mark easily & show the dirt? Any black car owners gat some regrets.

Otherwise its only red or silver.

Alsom is there a for sale section on here? cant se one on the list of areas.

Last one - the car I drove was form July 2002. But has different wheels to a brand new one. Have they facelifter the care recently, with new wheels?

Welcome Paul. To get around the abuse may I recommend the Search facility

As a black vRS owner myself I can tell you that the colour is the best looking one when just washed and waxed. Any other day you'll be wishing you'd gone for the anonymous silver or the fading red. There are some excellent products around to prolong the shine though' date=' but i'll leave you to discover those by yourself first.

Ofcourse there is... It can be found right here.

No, the wheels have stayed the same throughout the model/years, but you might find that some models feature 16" instead of 17" alloys. Best to be avoided IMHO.

Hope this helps a bit,

Q.

Black is best but very hard to keep clean. However, I enjoy washing my cars so it's the perfect colour for me :D

Thanks guys. Any more views?

I'm sure they were 17's, just looked like the spokes were more parallel then the 'spider' ones in the brochure and ont he showroom new car. I'll double checkl before buying tho, as only the estate should have 16s's

I'll have a mooch round the for sales now.

Thanks :)

i have seen a few hatchback vRS cars with 16in alloys so beware.(look a bit rubbish IMHO)

i own a black one and dont regret buying this colour one bit, after washing it it looks amazing. no matter what colour you get it will look dirty, yes more so on the black but it just means when you clean it it will look all the better!

all about taste you like black buy black, you like silver you buy silver etc

great cars no matter what the colour, enjoy when you get one

Another possible convert from a Scooby then , yes there are plenty of others who have done the same thing on here ..........BTW I take it you don't like yellow then !

welcome!

as an owner of a black RS and a rally red one about 9 months ago, i can only echo the above. when clean, black looks absolutely fantastic.

I dont mind yellow. Looked good on my old impreza sport. Just dont think it suited the skoda :)

I do like the black ones tho, defo in the lead at the mo.

RB5 ah, wonna swap. ;)

Welcome Paul :)

Regarding the wheels, as Q mentioned, it has been 17" for the past few years. IIRC, you get 16" on imports, i.e. only UK-marketed Tavia vRSes get 17". So if a car is only a couple of years old, it's probably an import or has had the alloys changed. Either can not have a lot of importance, or hide some very bad news...

Personally, I'd avoid them.

:)

Paul,

May I ask why the swop to the RS?

Des

Mine is black too!!!

I thought I had made the wrong decision a few weeks after buying it. But after I had seen a red, silver, yellow and my black one in a row, I was over-joyed with the choice I made.

I generally polish it once a month and with a weekly wash after my 500 miles travelling around, it comes up a treat, and is far more pleasing to the eye than the other colours. The polishes I use tend to last several months, I'm told, but am sure everyone has their favorites!!!!

Paul,

As the saying goes "once you've had black, you never go back" (although I don't think they were talking about Skoda's?) :nono:

As long as you get a vRS, who cares what colour it is.................

Andy

as long as it's black, cos black is best! :D

I'm changing to cut back on running costs - mainly insurance, petrol and servicing. The car is now advertised in the for sale/wanted section here.

If anyone has an RS that they want to swap me for the scoob that would be OK. Idealy I want less then 15k miles, and black ;)

No mods. No damage. Just a clean std car.

Make me an offer.

Is this where we say goodbye to Jon? Will he wind his speedo back to zero to match his new engine's mileage and try and pass his car off as being new? Will Des go with him? Are there any other colour-blind ex-Scooby owners who might wish to defect back from Briskoda's dark side? Questions, questions, questions - and no answers yet............ :(

Tune in for the next exciting episode of... BRISKODENDERS!

Sorry, couldn't resist.

If your heart is set on black, go with it, just watch out if buying one from any of this lot! although the corriada red is nicer than rally red.

BRISKOBENDERS would surely have been more appropriate for our black cadre (so to speak). :D

Either way look out for bad cockney/manc accents and tedious plots where frank sleeps with his brother, who is really a woman sex change patient who gets pregnant and gives birth to a baby with webbed feet and a birth defect that makes her grow to adult size in 10 minutes and then she has a gang bang with the whole road, mum and dad included! and thats just the first half hour episode! :stupid:

red is red is red surely rooboy

Denis i must say the dynamic blue is very nice :D

rooboy you have just explained the genetic diversity in most of derbyshire

Why on gods earth would i want to go back to driving a scoob. With the RS I've actually got spare cash to spend on something other than scooby spares and I can afford to put petrol in it. :D
