Steering Vibration

Featured Replies

Hey guys

im still facing vibrations at idle.

i can feel it in the steering no matter if in idle or driving. Its driving Me Crazy :) in driving i noticed that the sun cover is shaking when its Pulled down.

vibrations are less when I put it in P.

Because its in idle i dont think wheels are vibrating in that. But i bought Brand New wheels and its still there.

all began After Oil change (Engine and DSG). I remember that i left the oil tank under the car By letting it down. So stupid :) it bend the top of the tank then i noticed it and put the car back up.

No error codes in vcds.

the Engine bay looks good but the engine itself is vibrating like in the Video below. Changed the plugs and the pcv... still there. I know that the TSI is rough anyway.

in my opinion i probably damaged the engine/trans Mount with the oil tank? But they are Bit expensive to just replace ...

skoda checked the dsg Mechatronic and its fine. 200 bucks for that and 800 for a sealing to the oil cooler that was leaking.

Whats your thoughts?

Not at all actually.

When it is warm and you switch off all electric consumers and A/C it's barely sensible from outside, you need to literally put your ear on the hood. Probably chain is making this whoosh noise, but not much coming from the combustion chambers. From the cabin there is no difference whether engine is switched off or not.

After you switch on A/C or headlights, then you can be aware of engine existence (and on cold starts, of course, when it sounds like a diesel).

Good luck in sorting it out.

My bet will be engine mounts if doing it at idle.

Engine sounds normal - noisy injectors on direct injection

Yes right. Can’t hear any unusual sounds from the engine.

maybe I will remove the mounts just to check and put them back on.

Same in my car but its 1.6 diesel. One year of investigation and I cant find source of vibrations. Perhaps something to do with dogbone and gearbox mount.

Had little time this afternoon so I removed the battery to look at the trans mount.

it has play but I don’t know if this much play is ok?!

i can feel the vibration At the drive shaft also. Put my hand on it...

Often the mounts will 'seem' ok. only real way is to replace them, how many miles has yours done?

mounts are usually one of those things you don't notice deteriorate over time, but when you replace you are like 'how did I not notice that!?'

Try a dog bone insert as a cheap improvement.
