Timing belt/water pump/DSG service

Featured Replies

Finally got my VRS TDi in for its cambelt service. It is a bit early for the cambelt but the DSG needed servicing anyway. So I thought get them both done at the same time. My car has done 64000 miles and ai have owned it since 59000 or so. From what I can tell the DSG hasnt been serviced yet. Only 24000 miles overdue! Anyhow I have this beast as a courtesy car. The power is immense!

After 5yr, do CitiGo's require a change of cambelt or change of elestic band?

If it's not too cheeky, I'm sure folk would appreciate how much the cambelt and DSG service cost and if you had the work done at a franchised dealer, VAG specialist or back street garage.  ( And of course no matter what you say, there will always be someone that'll mention you could have found it cheaper...  :D  )

I am having it done at my now local garage called Volkservice in Blackpool. They are a VAG specialist. Timing belt and waterpump is £385 and that is using VAG genuine parts. The DSG service is £170.

I was going to do the DSG service myself but I dont have the spare time between work and my 16 month old daughter.

Excellent service and the car feels loads better. I would imagine it is down to the DSG being serviced. Filled up on the way home with diesel at pay and pump. Put in £50 worth of diesel and was only charged £1. Not sure what that equates to per litre but it is something like 2 pence lol.

My car was getting 52mpg on the way home where as before I got 45mpg ish on the same journey.  Amazing what new gearbox oil does. The gear changes are silky smooth and even pulling away the car feels more positive.

Perhaps ShyVRS was the last person to use it.  🤣

Glad to read of a satisfied customer, I was beginning to think they didn't exist.

Several garages are doing that now when you use pay at pump, wait a few days and the full amount will appear on your card statement.

& the big clue is that when you use the card and put in the PIN it says £1 Authorised. That is before taking any fuel.

& that £1 does not disappear from your available Credit limit or account until the full amount does.

Filled up at Asda in Barnstaple this morning (it would be rude not to at 99.7p/litre!), £1 Authorised appeared on the display on the pump and is showing as pending on the App on my phone, but from experience of previous fillups at Asda that will become the full amount in 2-3 working days.

Wow is that on a VRS?

I got quoted £590 from. Skoda and £500 from a vag"specialist"
