locking wheel bolt with picture finally.

Featured Replies

Apologies for re posting although I have added the picture (which helps) to my original post this morning its not so noticeable to  members.

Anyhow here it is.

If anyone can advise which fitting it is , have researched tinternet and seen some 10 spline keys but not sure if they are correct.

Cannot take car anywhere so a bit snookered.

Thanks

Martin

Did you get a driver's handbook with the car?

If so, look at it & see if the reference has been written into it.

It's not a spline bolt. Or a star or a torx. Those are 6 or 12 point. That thing is a ten point.

Closest match on eBay is this...

I think short answer is get it out and replace it with either a normal wheel bolt or official security bolt.

Shouldn't be an issue for any tyre place or garage either.

Hi vindaloo, I ought to elaborate, I can't take the car anywhere, its got cylinder head issues and whilst it runs fine in and out of my garage also not insured or taxed at moment.

I have members posting on my original post without photo and ordered a key.

Thanks

Hi punyexpress, just looking at its service schedule book and there has been stamped on the build sticker bottom randomly at a funny angle some letters and numbers, could this be it?

Anyhow I have received several posts on my original non photo one, have ordered a 10 spline key so waiting for delivery hoping it fits.

Thanks

In which case be careful and don't screw up the bolt head. If you have an impact driver or can put direct pressure on the tool into the socket, great. If not, a long ratchet handle and a minion's foot/leg bracing the ratchet head whilst they're supported by a wall or another vehicle etc... Arse on gravel won't work, butt slides backwards, need to brace.

Yes will make sure I don't mess them up and don't have air tools-not a big fan.

A big fan is an air moving tool and rattle guns are a fantastic boon, they should only really be used for dismantling, all final tightening should be hand torqued.
