On one of my previous topics a member asked whether my car has a GPF. That got me thinking, as a GPF  can affect my intention to get a stage one remap. From a sticker in the engine bay on the left side engine mount, it states a built date of March 2018 and it was registered end of July. So do any well informed members know the answer to this question, or do I need to look underneath the car to find out? All details on my vehicle are as seen below.

I'm sure it's only the 245 2.0tsi which have the GPF equipped exhaust systems

i got a 1.5TSI DSG with a GPF, made in December 2018

With my build date of March 2018, hopefully mine does not have one.

 

I wouldn't worry about it or let it affect you going stage 1. The difference in on road performance would be negligible.

I have a 1.0 Octavia registered September 2018.  It has a GPF.  As far as I know, cars built from around that time on have one of these infernal  things as part of the exhaust system.

From all the information I have gathered so far, only the later 245bhp Octavia VRS have them in the VRS range. The motors with the smaller engines seem to frequently have them though.

March 2018 production date makes your car a Manufacture Year (MY) 18 & just prior to the stricter emissions testing so, I doubt you would have a GPF. A call to any of the tuners with your engine number should confirm this though, those tuners don't like surprises.

 

Ben Wardle (IIRC) at raceline now have remaps for GPF vRS's though

Yes mate, I have emailed Performance Torque with all my car details and they will map it no problem. Just trying to find out more about this mapping company at the moment. I am now certain you are right, no GPF. Cheers for the accurate info mate. It's amazing the things I learn on this site.

The 230 engine setup tunes better than the 245 TBH, less sprayers per injector on the 245.

 

However, i'd really search around for some personal recommendations before choosing a tuner & whilst it'd be nice to custom tune the car on a dyno, you can really push the safety back in pursuit of performance.

 

In that situation, I'd really like to know from personal recommendations i can trust the tuner as engine/turbo replacements can be reach 5 figures

I have just had one reply on Facebook in the Skoda Gang section. it was a positive one from another VRS owner.
