Induction vRS

@Mickmartin  Don't act stupid.   You know what you are doing, you research.

You have a CTHE.

Too many here have totally ballsed up CAVE cars in the past 10 years.

The number that did with a BOV is quite high.

Don't think it needs a BOV, get some nice turbo whistles and stuff occasionally anyway, and its not obnoxiously loud or constant

@AmusedMussel

Where did you buy it from?

You need to check to see if the Supercharger cover has been removed already, the rear weights, and it might have a GFB DV+ diverter valve.

Same with the spark plugs, it is good to know what is fitted now.

I get your scepticism. Still don’t agree lol but I see where your coming from with the advertising etc......I've owned enough modified hot hatches to be bias from my side as I’ve installed the likes of a £20 K&N cone filters to a £500 GruppeM ram filter, I remember fitting only open cone filter to my EP3 civic type R and it hit 155mph, 9mph more than the manufacturers top speed.

As @AmusedMussel wrote, it’s always a hot topic for debates.

Strangely enough I also fitted a decent open cone air filter to my EP3 Civic Type R years ago. Before fitting it I timed a couple of runs. A 0 to 60mph and a 40mph in third gear to 80mph. Then fitted the cone filter with heat shield of course and did the same timed runs. Exactly the same times before and after fitting the filter. So no benefit in power there then. The main reason I did go back to stock air filter was the noise. When the car hit V-TEC, it sounded like you were driving an express train, sitting right next to the engine. Maybe I was just too old to stand all that bloody din!! I have however fitted a few K&N panel filters to various cars and never had a problem with the MAF getting oiled up.  I just use the standard filter now and replace it regularly.

Bought it from a part ex dealer. He specialised in range rovers and luxury motors, so a bit weird having a Skoda.

That might be a little beyond me mechanically, so would need walking through that. I can do basic maintenance myself and i'm not afraid to  try something after a youtube video or so demonstrating.

Spark plugs are next on the list, then tires. You said taking the sock off the air filter will make a difference? More noise or..?

I done the hondata air box mod on

mine at first and dropped in an ITG filter, Moved to a k&n typhoon then eventually to the GruppeM ,Good sturdy engine but hard to squeeze big power out of without charging it.

And yeah it’s like driving a tin can😅

Years ago I had Punto Hgt with a green stuff cone, that’s the only problem I’ve ever had with a filter on numerous cars.

You have reminded me what the make of the cone filter I used, it was the K&N Typhoon. Bloody awful noise in the high rev V-Tech. The old EP3 was a great little car, but it certainly did lack power and hard to get more power out of it without the Supercharger conversion. They handled well though, very predictable when you pushed it into a power slide. Here is an old photo of mine just to take you back a bit.
