ecu location

Featured Replies

Hi

My mum has a Skoda Fabia Mk1, one day it just stopped.
It got towed to a mechanic and he told me he thought it was the engine ECU.
He didn`t have time to troubleshoot anymore, so I got the car towed to my garage.
Anybody know where the engine ECU are located?

The mechanic says he have tested the fuel pump and fuel pump relay.
Is it a common thing that the ECU ****s up in these kind of cars?

Silver box, back of engine compartment on the right.

Thank you.

You're welcome 👍

I wouldn't say ECU failure is common on the Fabia, no. What model Fabia is it?

Rare, bordering on unheard-of.

Hi

Skoda Fabia mk1.

I also thought it sounded weird that the ECU would just crash and the car wouldn`t start.
Going to look into it, but have to finish some other cars before.

But thanks anyways guys :)

1,2liter petrol engine
year 2004

Has it been scanned for fault codes?

I`m going to try it with my equipment, but I guess I need vagcom to get the best scan results.
The "Check engine light" does not come on.

When I try to start the car, I cannot hear any sound from the fuel pump. I guess it's lack of power. Can anyone tell me what these wires are? I was thinking of trying to ein the fuel pump directly from the battery just to test. But need to know where to hook up the wires.

Just an update.

Got the engine running after 1 hour of looking after a electrical fault.
One of the fuses where bad. Changed it and the engine started. Then the fuse broke again.
The engine ran only on 2 cyl, changed a damaged coil. Changed the fuse. Engine started and is running good.
Tested the car today for a 18mile trip and everything where fine. Guess my mum would be happy now. hahahaha.

^ Well done :)

Well done indeed

Statistically I would say there is one case of ECU failure for every ten thousand times a mechanic pronounces "it must be the ECU" which translates to "I cant find whats wrong, I dont know what I am doing, just take your car away and get out of my hair"
