Ok, so I bought a Thule 598 bike rack to go on my genuine skoda Octavia estate roof bars and I quickly found they didn’t fit... so I bought the Thule adaptor kit for ‘square bars’ only to find with these they also don’t fit.

 

i thought skoda re-sold Thule Bike roof carriers for their roof racks so I’m confused as to why they don’t fit even with the adaptors.

 

has anyone got genuine skoda roof bars and a Thule 598 and how did you manage to get it to fit? 
 

Annoyingly skodas roof bars are a trapezium shape and are larger than Thules square bars which is what their adapter kit is aimed at, which In all seems to be what’s making it a bast*rd to fit.

Don't the Skoda bars have the t slot system? 

I used to have Halfords oval roof bars (which are the same as the old Thule oval bars before Thule moved to the Wingbar) with my 598 Pro Ride carriers using the T Track system and it worked fine

In what way does it not fit?

 

I’ve had the previous gen 591 carriers on Skoda own bars as well as Thule/Halfords aero (oval) and the Thule wing bar all using the T slot system. The Skoda bar had a slightly thicker profile around the T slot but it still did the job.

 

The wrap around shackles also worked on the aero bars....

Thanks all... I hadn’t even realised the Skoda bars have the T bar as they have rubber covering the entire length of the T-Bar. 

 

Attached are pics of the issue (when using the wrap around shackles)... but in peeling some of the rubber back it appears i can use the T bar system.

 

Good job I posted on here before I threw them out and bought some Thule ones!
