The Fabia is the small car that could!

just a decent all rounder without being too flash or great in any area.

nice dependable vag reliability in a slightly less stylish wrapper

Seen this write up in my Instructor mag as well. Got plenty of time to read it, seeing as though I have to stay off work due to Covid 19 rules. I wonder when we will be training people again milgeS, as our job puts us into a high risk group of workers! I work as a full time Fleet Trainer, so have to get in and out of other company drivers vehicles all the time. Still, I have done the Covid 19 course and presentation, so ready to go.

It's all a bit of a mystery regarding our industry at the moment isn't it, people talk of returning in July but some are already out there. The wording has so many loopholes that an individual could say they fit into but my belief is we can't go back until distancing is reduced to 1m or removed completely.

Insurers are vague too, some saying you can use your car, some say not. We all have a different view of things depending on situation. Whatever you choose to do I wish you luck and hope you stay safe 🙂

Good luck to you as well mate. I am always in and out of other peoples company vehicles, so a bit different to teaching learners, thank goodness. Have not taught a learner for over 25 years. Would certainly not allow another driver to drive my motor and thank goodness I don't have to. Just waiting for a bit of key worker training, Open Reach drivers etc, to come up, but I have not worked since going on holiday on the 7th of March. Don't really know when I will be training again either. What a bloody state the industry is in at the moment!

On the periphery, I hope IAM and RoSPA will let us get back to doing observed runs with associates some time in the coming months, but I've not seen any indications of this so far.

I work for the I.A.M. as a trainer and have also not heard a single thing about my work in Fleet/advanced training coming back in the near future.

I can understand the industries hands are tied to an extent and I am sure they are working hard in the background, but it would be better PR for them to tell us a bit of what is going on!

We have tests booked that were rearranged for June/July, been vaguely told not to take anyone to test that isn't ready but not allowed to train them yet, but also not able to go online and rearranged their tests to a later date!

Also insurers are giving mixed messages, some say you can go and teach as your policy covers you, some are saying you can't, it's all a bit confusing right now. I would rather they said we can teach Key workers with tests at our own discretion, everyone else not until eg August and all tests will restart in September, at least then we know we aren't getting back in the car until August rather than looking at one another and seeing who's going to make the first move.

Having owned one for a couple of years now I am surprised I do not see more Fabias in use as driving school cars, unless dual controls cost makes them too expensive.

Only seen one to date and the instructor was happy with his choice.

Skoda used to do free dual controls but unsure now, I would have bought a Mk3 but it was still a few months before release when I was due to change my Mk2, prices for Mk2 were high too so I bought an A1.

I now have Polo's, they weren't much difference in price to a higher spec Fabia at the time and I went with them hoping they will retain value a little better.

I'll look at a Fabia in a few years when I change again though.
