Sticker to cover airbag sticker on sun visor

Featured Replies

Hi.

I'm looking to for a sticker that can go over my airbag warning sticker on the sun visors. Preferably one with a Skoda or Vrs badge. It looks quite ugly on the Vrs interior I think when it has black headliner and the white sticker. Small issue on the scale of things but still quite annoying when you notice it.

I have seen a picture of somebody having one in another thread but their link for it on eBay has expired. Does anyone know where they can be got please?

Thanks.

Or replace with a LHD sun visor for no decals at all.

Could do alright I suppose. Seen a few people suggesting this on other forums but can't see any for sale on eBay or superskoda though.

I'm also looking for this.. Plain matt black would be fine as well

Ya, I was half thinking of getting matte black vinyl wrap if I can't find a Skoda sticker aswell.

Hi did anyone find a sticker to cover this?  They really irritate me, but I don’t have the minerals to take them off using the rubbing alcohol just incase it ruins the sunvisor

I bought Matte black vinyl wrap and just put that over it in the end. Looks a lot better I think.

It's there for a reason, not decoration.

It's more than likely a legal requirement for it to be there and visible too, although unlikely to be checked. It will need to be there if and when you sell the car on.

That should be in the joke section :D

I guess I was lucky that when I sold my last car it did not attract the attention of the "more than likely a legal requirement" enforcement Police.

Perhaps I should tell the new owner to inform his insurers.

Correct, its a requirement for type approval

and its a requirement for NCAP rating to remain valid.

NCAP rating infuences insurance grouping and your premium

Its a useful reminder for front seat passengers to check whether the airbag is switched on or off.

If you were in an accident or worse still, another driver/owner  that involved a passenger injury, particularly a child injury, insurance companies  may be rather unpleasant towards you if you've interfered in anyway with the safety systems. Be it a permanently attached safety information label, switching off the airbag inappropriately, or covering a warning light, just because you didn't like it.

An insurance company would probably regard covering or removal of the label as potentially endangering passenger safety so it is important to declare such a mod.

And dont forget to not walk on the cracks in the pavement!

You won't be so flippant if your sold on "modded" car was involved in an accident that involved loss of life and/or serious injuries and investigators highlight your mod as a possible contributory factor to injuries suffered.....

😂😂😂 bit over dramatic saying you’ll have to declare as a mod! It’s a sticker which can easily be removed

I did say interfere with a "permanently attached safety information label"

On my Superb MY18, it is embossed/printed directly on the visor, it is not a sticker.

Having lost my sister in a car crash killing three, where an airbag might have saved her, and having endured a drawn out process while the investigation was carried out, an inquest held, and listening to expert testimony, I'm somewhat permanently inclined to get "dramatic" about car safety.

A guy passed out at the wheel (we believe) of a Citroen van & drove through the front wall of an adjacent property taking out the gas main, I was one of the first on the scene, he was taken away unconscious to hospital.

Ambulances, Pompiers & Gendarmes on the scene, road closed & neighbours evacuated, when I pointed out that none of the airbags had deployed nobody was in the slightest bit interested, & this in a country where you are not even allowed to modify a car in any way whatsoever, change a steering wheel or fit a sunstrip etc etc.

I will post a photo later if I find the time.

How do you consider that not being able to read an airbag warning sticker could cause someones death?

The warning sticker may just save someone's life in the same way a sign denoting a Fire Exit or Emergency Exit or High Voltage warning might.....I could go on....the information is placed where it is for a well thought out reason....but I dare say you will probably have a smart alec response to anything I might post.

We will never know how many lives the sticker saves but those that don't read, or ignore, or simply don't think, can make a depressing headline.

You might find that if you attach a sticker to it, that when you try to remove it, it will also remove the original sticker too as part of an anti tampering feature.

I hope this does not come across as a smart Alec response but I dont actually know what the sticker says, its on the LHS and I am blind in the left eye, long sighted in the right & wear distance glasses for driving, I tried to read it tonight but couldn't, in any case its for the passenger not for the driver so I would really like to know how not being able to read the sticker might result in someones death, I had assumed that it was a warning not to use a forward facing baby seat without turning off the airbag and that it would carry a pictogram.

I dont understand your references to fire doors etc, it sounds like you dont actually know what the sticker says yet you are confident to say that covering it will put peoples lives at risk.

Frenchtone has a good point, should I have mine translated into French but then putting that sticker over the existing one would also be wrong seemingly, lots of people in my area cannot read or write but I dont take passengers.

^ I ask again which country do you refer to when you talk of vehicle mods etc not being allowed?

As ugly as it is I personally wouldn’t cover a sticker denoting a safety point.

I think some of the comments directed at @xman are a bit flippant as he has a very good point.

The consequences of an airbag deploying on a rear-facing child seat may not be at the forefront of someone’s mind going about their daily business assuming they are educated of the danger in the first place.

A car to some is just an A-B thing and this is something they may not have considered. This forum is going to attract people who have an interest in cars and are more than likely be in the know.

In either case it’s there to warn and remind, if it wasn’t important then it wouldn’t be there in the first place.

If you’re aware of the danger then I can’t see the issue covering it (I’d much prefer the vRS sticker) but it’d be good idea to remove it when you come to px or sell on.
