Welcome back!

Looks like a good choice.

Welcome back Phil 👋

Hopefully this'll keep you off the radar of idiotic little twits with a point to prove!

Lol... Yeah but then it will be the angry Merc/BMW/Audi's on the Autobahn wanting to get past as I'm trying my hardest to accelerate! 😁😂🤣

Welcome back Phil I had an Audi and a BMW trying to prove how slow they are on tonight's commute (yes I work weekends lucky me) and after 11 miles my average was a Bentley esque 18.2mpg (Colin D would have been proud of that maxidot shot).

Welcome back, Phil-E👍

@Phil-E was the basic block of that engine a gm diesel?

my 2009 in****nia ate its big end bearings last year, due to the crappy oil feed design... really common issue, i got lucky noticed a problem (thought it was the egr/maf) before it seized on me.

Does this mean we're going to see a resumption of the dashcam footage Phil? ;)

Jein. It's basically the same block as the 1.9 CDTI (it's a Fiat/GM/Alfa block) but with many changes made to it. But it did suffer from failed swirl flaps being injested and also oil pump issues caused by a dodgy seal. So I reckon that was the cause.

My dash cam hasn't been in for a long time. The battery is dead in it. So I either need to see about a new LiOn battery pack or get a new dash cam. But yeah. In principle I will be installing a dash cam again and will upload anything interesting. Although the driving is general good here. Also far less aggressive than the UK. But you still get the odd idiot!

I think I may want to invest in a dual cam setup now.

yeah, thats the block they took and rebored to make it a 2litre for the insignia, but never changed the oil galleries or the feed system, so bottom end oil could be less than needed, followed by lots of excess wear and eventual death.

anyway, good luck with the new Octavia!!

I've just found my old VCDS cable in the cellar. Bonus. Thought I'd sold it!

The only thing I'll be missing is Bluetooth/sat-nav but I've ordered a decent phone mount that clips down the side of the stereo and Bluetooth thing that plugs into the aux and has a control and microphone.

Also been looking at the Pumpkin PX6 9" Android stereo. Seems good value for money.

But first. Just enjoy the car a bit. Picking it up hopefully this week and then we're driving down to the Mosel (where all the lovely German wine comes from) next Monday 😁👍

'I'm  Back'...........Who do you think you are, Arnie, Lol.

Welcome back Phil.

For some reason I remembered you just the other day whilst reading a thread iirc.............amongst other missed Briskodians......

Probably remembering your sensible advice / replies.

I had a 9-3 and it was great, apart from being very sluggish before the turbo kicked in. It was only one year old though........most comfortable car iv'e ever owned.

I'm sure you'll update once you get the car. Good luck.

Agreed, love the Octavia II shape especially in facelift trim. I've just purchased myself a very similar 2011 Octy 1.4T SE Plus Estate in black - will post some pictures when I've picked her up!
