How to enter Climatronic calibration mode

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone. I own a 2014 Seat Toledo, which as far as I understand has an identical Climatronic to the Skoda Rapid and probably others. I can't find any way to cause the Climatronic to calibrate itself (flap motor endpoints, etc). There are many descriptions on the web of how to trigger this on older VAG models - generally holding the Econ button and the front vent button simultaneously, sometimes turning on the ignition while doing this, but I can't find any for the newer models. My photo shows which Climatronic I have). I believe the Econ button is now the A/C button. I've tried every combination I can think of, but I can't get it to do it. The reason I need to do this is because I've had the fresh air / recirculation flap motor/sensor assembly out and cleaned the potentiometer so that it no longer gives false readings. But I can see the motor straining to push the lever a little past the one end of its travel, causing the plastic housing to almost pop open. It's also failing sometimes and getting stuck on recirculation mode. I really can't afford to take it to the dealer for this, and they couldn't find the cause of issues with my HVAC system anyway; I've now already done better than them! I'm also yet to fix the potentiometers for the other flaps. If there is no button combination to trigger it, is there any way I can do it with a fault code reader? The Seat technicians' manual says "If the control motor was replaced, perform a basic setting (Vehicle diagnostic tester)" Effectively this is what I want to do.

Thanks camelspyyder. That's the most common method I've already come across and tried, but it doesn't work on mine. In fact mine doesn't have LEDs to flash as the statuses are shown on the LCD - and they don't blink either. I notice from your pic that you've got a Toledo too. Does your panel look like mine? Does that calibration method work on yours?

Be interesting to find out if you can find a way to calibrate it.

I have the same model with the identical climate fascia. Mine can sometimes set itself to the toasty hot setting when it should be putting out cold air. It's a rare occurrence but annoying when it happens, a simple turn off the ignition and restart fixes it. Annoying though if your belting down the motorway and can't stop easily to perform the procedure.🙄

I've got a newer one now, but I've never tried to calibrate it.
