Hello all, just fitted detachable Witter towbar and Rieger splitter (with the tow bar hatch) to cover it up. Problem is, the Witter tow bar sticks out A LOT at the bottom, mainly due to the extended holes as shown in the picture. I know full well that I should have got the Westfalia tow bar but i needed the flange type bar that only Witter seem to do for the car. Anybody got any ideas what these holes are for at the bottom of the bracket? I'm thinking of cutting them off so that I can conceal the tow bar when it's off.

For connecting the breakaway brake cable?

Might be worth trying to get a piece of heavy steel and drill a decent size hole in it to take the breakaway cable and mount it under the two high tensile mounting bolts on one side, you made need longer bolts, that would allow you to grind off the two lugs at the front.
