Front parking lights fuse

Featured Replies

Hi.

I have a 2011 1.6 TDI DSG facelift Skoda Octavia. I recently got a  light bulb warning light, so I checked all the lights. I noticed both my front parking lights, the ones just by the main lights, aren't working. I bought the bulbs, changed them, still not working, so now I'm thinking it's probably a fuse.

The only problem: I can't find a fuse for parking light on the diagram in the car manual. Any idea, anybody?

PS: the car is not a VRS, so it should have working parking lights.

There isn't a fuse specifically for the the side/parking lights so if all the other lights are working, the fuses are fine.

If you've only just replaced the bulbs, it might need an ignition cycle or some time before they'll work again.

Thanks for the reply.

I changed the bulbs 2 months (about 300 miles ago). I had another pair of bulbs at home so I changed them again. No luck.

Daft question, have they ever worked?

Yes, I'm sure they have.

Any idea, since there is no fuse for these specific lights, is there an electronic reley controlling them?

The sidelights connect directly to the BCM. It's a 6"x6"x1" black box above the pedals in the drivers footwel. It's hard to miss as it has 3 big 52 pin connectors to it (black, white and beige/gold).

It's full of solid state electronics so there are no user servicbale fuses/relays inside...

The lamp out sensor is a sensitive to having the correct bulb. The parking/side lights are W3W. Check you have not put in a W5W.

Since English isn't my main language, I'll upload a picture where I indicated with red the bulb that needs changing.

I have a H1 bulb in there at the moment.

Isn't that the main beam?

The parking light is to the right in your picture above the round dipped beam lense.

Here is where my sidelights / parking lights are on my FL.

And are the DRL (Daytime Running Lights) working (to the side of the fog lights)?

@Phil-E DRL not working, I don't think they ever have.

PS: so the light indicated in my photo is called main beam? What bulbs does it use in your car? Or is your car a VRS using the DLR instead?

I don't have a vRS. My lights are the same as yours.

The H1 is the main beam (comes on when you pull or push the indicator stalk).

But like I said the parking / sidelights are where I indicated. And they are a small W5W bulb.

Best Google image I can find showing them:

The DRLs may be deactivated. But there should be a bulb in there to prevent the bulb warning (P21W / BA15S).

You don't say what year car you have but here is an extract from my 2012 car's handbook that shows the position of the side light bulb in the headlight at A.

2012 models came with DRLs fitted but not commissioned (confusingly called activated in some texts). I used the Carista app to do this and then activated them using the left stalk as shown in the Owner's Manual. (If you don't have one then you can download it from the pinned thread at the top of this forum)
