vibrating rear view mirror

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My O3 elegance is almost perfect and only one thing about the car now annoys me. the rear view mirror vibrates internally making the image in the mirror bounce or vibrate when driving along.

It's not the mount nor the mirror to the windscreen, it seems to be internally. It is speed related and is worse when it's a hot day.

The rear window glass defrosting lines bounce up and down when looking in the mirror and its really off putting.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this? I guess the mirror holds the auto dipping parts as well as the cameras ans sensors for lights etc so i don't want to pull it apart too much.

Can't help really - have not seen this raised as an issue before  - but I guess the obvious first question is: are auto-dipping etc working as normal

Thanks for your reply. The auto dip is pretty woeful at the best of times. It's probably not working as it should.

I've found a few threads relating to this so at least I'm not going crazy.

Would a replacement cause issues with coding and electrics etc?

So I've just taken the mirror off any nothing is wrong. Re fitted it but it is still vibrating. This is the mirror I have:

If I was to replace it with a non dipping mirror, this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183860711610

would I have any problems? Is the only thing different on my current mirror the auto dipping? It has a camera / sensor facing forward, as well as a small sensor on the back.

Thanks

This is still killing me more and more each day. I have now tried to add some foam adhesive between the mirror and the mount as suggested on a golf forum.

No improvement. I think it may be the actual mirror internals which have failed, it looks like new mirror time 😞
