Closing window after battery charge

Featured Replies

As I am not driving my Karoq during lockdown, I charge the battery through the cigarette lighter socket every 2 weeks. I lead the cable through the front window of the car. When I’ve finished charging, how do I close the window without starting the car?

Turn on ignition, close window, turn off ignition, no need to start engine.

How do you turn on the ignition with keyless start?

In a manual car you can try to start the engine but without putting the clutch down first.

This puts the ignition on but won't start the engine.

What happens if you put it in gear before you try to start it?

Or do you need to put the ignition on before you can put it in gear.

The first part was how to do it with a manual car. ( useful to other people )

The second part was a question ( to you  ) if you have an automatic. ( which you have ) ?

I don't have an automatic and I don't know the answer.

Thanks AG Falco

Just press the start button but don't put your foot on the brake pedal.

I now understand - with the automatic you start the engine with the car in “park” and the footbrake depressed.

Thanks Gomez. I looked in the manual but didn’t find that information.

Or...   if you want to close the window, just keep the lock button on the keyfob pressed for a couple of secs and that will close the window. It's called global closing - all windows and sunroof will raise/close for as long as you keep the 'lock' button depressed.

( note: the reverse is true. All the windows + sunroof will open if you depress the open button on the keyfob - just press button for a few secs and then release when the windows lower to the position you want. )

I'll try that
