Does Skoda Fabia vRS (DSG) 2013 have stop/start?

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me if my car has stop/start?

I need a new battery (casualty of lockdown).

I have never given this any thought until now.

My gut says DSG/turbo charger/super charger precludes stop/start.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Welcome.

No it does not have stop / start.

Always do in ANY car which has a button................but if you leave on, then............

what is marvelous about it ?

The fact it wears out the starter prematurely, or the fact everytime you switch off your engine the oil drains down, then restarts and thats when all the wear happens, or is it the fact the battery gets a beating as well.

With Autohold and an e-brake and DSG never had a starter motor or battery issue and if it is taking a long time in gridlock traffic through Edinburgh, Glasgow or Aberdeen then no issue having it working when it suits and off when not.

It takes all kinds of drivers i suppose, but cutting pollution does not cost anything in extra fuel or car components IME.

I "agree" on the pollution side.................however, us in little britian will make no difference to global pollution when the likes of china are billowing out tonnes of it every year and have no real urgence to improve it.

Indeed.

But i suppose you have no children that lives at a major roadside where there is constant gridlock traffic when no lockdown.

Each to their own if they feel it is for others to bother their backside or not.

I run a stinky diesel without stop start, but tend not to use as a city car.  I also have cars with stop / start and use it when it suits me, it is certainly not the spawn of the devil.

No I don't have children, but if I did and lived by a major road and felt that pollution was an issue / concern, I would probably do my upmost to relocate.

I don't feel its for others to bother their backside, I was merley making a point that the rest of the developing world needs to do the same, we are a very small fish in a big sea, the enviromentalists will bang on about it all day at us, but thats mostly to do with the fact we are developed and can afford to change things "ish".

"we" are now destroying / mining see beds for cobalt for batteries because electric is the way to go.........................😣

I work within the transport industry, and as an example using Euro 5/6 spec HGV's (burning diesel at 5 mpg) which soon will have to meet even more stringent measures to go into Sadiq Khans land and other major cities have to be replaced by operators so they can do their job...........granted big well run compaines can afford this, but there is many that cant. Anyway I digress a little.............What do you think happens to all the old trucks that are not considered clean enough for this country.............hold on, we ship them to Africa because they don't care (and neither do we) ....... So on one hand we try to combat the issue, on the other we pass it onto someone else.............out of sight out of mind. We could discuss this all night long and we still wont have an answer.
