Annoying beep every 30 seconds

Featured Replies

Hi!

I’ve got an absolutely new Kodiak 2020.

And since the second day of usage I’ve noticed a beep sound, which appears after I switch engine on and continue for 10 minutes!

It beeps every 30 seconds, 20 times total.

I contacted to a seller, but they don’t know what is it and invited for diagnosis next week. But this sound will make me crazy till next week🤪

Any ideas?:)

here is the sound example

https://clyp.it/b5spnxsu

1) Is a door or the hatch not fully closed?

2) Is there something heavy on a seat and it thinks someone's sitting there without having fastened a seatbelt?

3) Any other warning lights??

Your link for the beep doesn't work, not for me anyway.

I'm guessing it's probably something simple. Do you use your seat belt ?

Are there any warning lights displaying on your dashboard ?

1) Doors are fully closed

2) No, there isn't any. I was thinking that there was any troubles with baby-seat (Roemer), but I've tried to drive without it and the sound was still there%)

3) No! No warning lights at all! I even tried to switch off all assistances, but it did't help

I've uploaded it to youtube:

Seatbelt are always fastened. There isn't any warning lights on the dashboard...

Sorry, I've run out of ideas... I'll leave it for other Kodiaq owners to have a think 😞

Chris

Do you have the same sound in general? I mean is it a default Skoda beep or maybe it’s any extra system like car’s alarm?

Sorry Lana, that beep doesn't sound like anything I've heard before in a VW or Skoda!

I suppose it's not very easy to track down where it's coming from??

Thank you! It’s also a useful info!

yes, it’s not easy to track...

Never heard that in my Kodi either. Or again any other Skoda or VAG. Could it be something like your phone via bluetooth? Perhaps try switching your phone off and seeing if it goes away?

One other possibility. Was your car factory new, or has someone else owned it? I ask because sometimes people add things and you don't know they are there. This can even happen when a dealer fits something. We had a really odd problem on our other Skoda (Fabia 3) which was caused by a system we didn't even know was fitted becuase the first owner had got the dealer to fit it. We would occasionally get a voice saying 'satellite reception lost' out of nowhere which was odd given the car had the standard non satnav head unit. Turns out there's a dealer fit satnav! And this started to cause the screen to flicker, because we never used it. Now we know it's there, and switch it on sometimes, the flickering problem has gone.

EDIT: sorry just seen in your first post that the car is new. So ignore the second part of this.

Is your phone connected to the apple car play or android auto - via USB?

Sounds like a phone sound... not got that sound in my Car Either

Or did you get a dashcam or dealer fit options?

I’m sorry it’s no help to you but the noise made me laugh out loud

I’m not even sure why. I think maybe it reminds me of a clowns hooter 😂

Sounds like an aftermarket alarm?

Sounds like a charger sound..? Do you have a charger cable attached to phone or something?

Maybe try to look in infotainment settings on vehicle tab to see any error displayed..?

Have you tried driving the car with the infotainment system off?

Does it only make the noise when driving? ( front parking sensors ?)

Thanks AG Falco

Maybe a dash cam if fitted?👁️‍🗨️

It does rather sound like something aftermarket.

As a last resort before you take it to the dealer, try rebooting the infotainment system.

Do this by pressing the OFF icon on the screen and keep it pressed until you hear a low bleep. Then turn back on in the normal way.

If doing this once doesn't work, do the same thing 3 times. This has worked for me in resetting a warning light and for others as well in certain circumstances.

I'm doubtful it will work in your case, but it won't do any harm to try it.

Thank you all very much for your ideas!
In the end it was the dashcam!!
It was on a green light, and dealer said it was okay. But! It turned out that the green signal means an error! If the camera was working, it should be red light.
We reconfigured the camera it and now it's OK!)

I'm happy%)

Glad to hear you found the culprit!! :)

Correct as usual.😊

More concerning to me that you didn’t hear the noise coming from the dash cam.

Especially if it’s doing it every 30 seconds, 20 times. Bizarre

Not really, it's sometimes very difficult to pinpoint the source of a noise, especially in a car.

I had an intermittent bleep in my previous car that I couldn't pinpoint. Dealer couldn't shed any light on it either.

As with the Op, it was my dashcam. There was a poor connection between the plug and the socket causing it to lose and regain power and it was only after someone mentioned dashcam that I paid particular attention to it.

Very glad the OP found the fault, not knowing is often the worst thing.

It's logical Jim...................... but not to any human being.
