I had been put off the iv due to hybrids not yet actually being that green (still combustion and battery tech not quite clean enough). Also had originally chosen the 272 but running costs and tax cost for the first 5 years are massive. Enter the 190tsi but it just seems a bit dull and not much more grunt than my mapped TDI.

 

So, the iv is coming back round as an option as I really like the idea of commuting on ev power then unleashing the fun at the weekend. Also the pre warming/cooling would be amazing!

 

Can anyone convince me why not to buy one? Moving in the next 6-12 months so a charger will go on the new house. 3 pin for now unless I can find a cheap solution for power as it might make the house more attractive.

SE Tech is the lowest spec. Which is the one I’ve got.

I think my firm might be going with the SE L but I'm a bit removed from the process at the moment so I have no idea.

 

Given the way they perform they'll probably present me with a 1980s Montego and wonder why I've pulled a face 😉

does it not feel a bit gutless if fully loaded and the battery is flat ? I had a Kodiaq for a while with the 1.4 petrol.  Fine when empty, but dreadful when fullto the gunnels and trying to go up a hill!!

Yes. When fully loaded the 1.4 alone is best described as adequate. It'll get the job done but does feel a bit flat.

 

I don't know how often you drive with the car fully loaded, but the benefit the iV etc has is that you can stick it in sports mode for these occasions and it'll preserve enough charge to make sure you have the full 215hp available at all times - this is what I do on trips to the Highlands etc where I'm not able to plug in on the journey.

Does anyone know if there's an update available to give 7Kw charging? 

Didn't realise the on board charger was capable of more than 3.6kw?

I don't know if it is or not, I was hoping it was just restricted by software. 

I think they're just 3.6kw I'm afraid. The EV tech is 8 years old on these cars now!
