Felicia clutch knightmare please help.

Featured Replies

Greetings once again,

I have a felica 1.3 lxi mpi 99 on a T plate, had it about a year, very pleased with it until recent knightmare. My partner and son mainly use it for local trips I am more into air colled vws but I think its a great little car. anyway heres the problem:

Clutch was slipping so I looked at cable it was fully adjusted, so I bought a clutch kit. I never done a clutch on a modern front engined car before ( but regularly work on aircooled VWs). Anyways took the box out, took clutch off, surprisingly frictaion plate hardly worn at all but three feet (prongs??) on the pressure plate were bent, so I duly put the new kit on. First problem torx headed bolts that hold pressure plate to flywheel rounded off when done up to right torque, so I replaced them with normal nut head ones (slightly longer but dont come out the back of flywheel so dont appear to foul anything). Next probelm as I am put box I have about year old halfords jack holding up engine, I go in for lunch and come back out, oh damn, the jack has failed causing the engine to pull on the ECU wires. Hoping that no damage has been caused I put it all back together, Car starts OK I take it round the block and there are the following problems:

Engine will not run above about 1200 rpm???

Cluth appears to make a big clunking noise whenm I change gear???

Clutch relase bearing sounds worn but its brand new??? (note it was a non genuine one - slightly different to one that came out but same width)

If I switch engine off it wont re-start for about an hour?

I feel really demoralised after all the effort doing the clutch and now more problems, my partner is ****ed off as she aint got a car that works, and my son cant go to nursey. We cant afford to take it to a mechanic so has anyone got any ideas of how to sort all these new probelms.

Many Thanks

jeff
