Kodiaq Self Seal Tyres

Featured Replies

For anyone curious to see what the inside of either the Pirelli or Hankook self sealing tyres fitted to the Kodiaq looks like...

I still had to change twice on my last one 🙄Slef sealing sometimes it works sometime it doesn't.

I had a screw in one of my pirellis. It didn't do much to stop the puncture and just meant it just took far longer for the local tyre place to patch it up. Thankfully they didn't charge any extra but I wouldn't be surprised if other places do, to fix tyres with the so-called self seal layer in them.

That must make a real mess of the tyre fitting machines and I wonder if it doesn't get scraped away when fitting?

Other than that a good idea but no doubt the next eco disaster and an excuse for them to charge us more to dispose of the old tyres than to buy the new ones.

I bet if you leave your car parked all day in very high temperatures it will drive like the Flinstone wagon for the first few miles.

@J.R.  You would lose that bet.

Simple enough to check, just leave them sitting in the sun on a very hot day and see if there is a puddle of sealant in the bottom off the tyre.

How stupid do you think the engineers at the tyre manufacturers are? They obviously extensively test this stuff in extreme climates.

How stupid do you think I am Zac?
