Replacement end caps for Karoq roof bars

Featured Replies

I have some Skoda original Karoq roof bars (Skoda part number 57A 071 151).  Two of the plastic end caps which are inserted into the end of the roof bars are broken.  There is a part which normally snaps into place to hold these end caps in place, but it has broken off.  You can see in the photo below a broken one on the left, and a good one on the right.  I suspect that these end caps are common to other Skoda roof bars as well, because the instruction manual refers to not just the Karoq, but also other p/n's for the Octavia Combi (5E5), Fabia Combi (NJ5), Superb Combi (3V5) and Kodiaq (NS).  I guess it's probably just different length bars, with the same mechanism at the of them.  There is no mention in the instruction manual of the part numbers for all the individual components, so I'm not sure what the Skoda part number would be for just these end caps.

Does anybody know where I can buy a couple of replacements for these plastic end caps?

Can you not glue them back with silicone sealant?

I have some aftermarket bars and one of the end caps was loose, a smidge of silicone and it's fine

I can’t glue the end caps on permanently with silicone sealant, because I need to be able to remove them before I can slide the roof box into the T-slot of the roof bars.

Can't you slide the roof box on from the side with the non-glued end cap?

You're right, I didn't think of that!

But ideally, I'd still like to get some new end caps, if I can buy them somewhere.  They do seem to be very flimsy.  I bought these roof bars 2nd hand.  One of the end caps was already broken when I bought it.  I managed to break the other one when I was removing the roof box when I got home having just bought it!  You just have to press up with a pen tip through a circular hole in the underside of the roof bar to press on the circular end section of the release tab of the end cap.  I didn't think I was pressing particularly hard at the time!
