RNS-315 V12 Maps - have they finally fixed the UK bug?

Featured Replies

Hi all

Does anyone know if the bug that was present in the V10 and V11 map software for the RNS315 Amundsen (the one that would cause the head unit to constantly reboot) has been fixed in the latest v12 software?

I'm currently running v9 (which is stable), and wondering whether it is safe to risk the v12 upgrade.

Thanks

Chris

Yes, V12 is tested okay on two machines I've been running.

Nice one - thanks for confirming.

Don't suppose you have recommendations on a trustworthy non-main dealer source for a V12 update card (that isn't a v9 hacked to report as a v12)?

Thanks

Chris

I don't I'm afraid, although I will say that there's a couple of folks on here who bought from a certain supplier and had problems. One of those two needed a replacement head unit while the other simply needed a replacement card. I'm not saying it was the card that damaged the unit though but the result was that the flash memory was corrupted beyond recovery.

Chris...

I've got the V12 map update in my possession, arrived yesterday but haven't got around to installing it yet. Apparently it needs a couple of hours to install, I'll get to it today and report back how it went.

Hi @MickA

Do please keep me posted on how you get on with your V12 update. Yes, it takes a good couple of hours (I had to do my v9 update over the course of three car journeys). Fortunately, it doesn't have to install in one session, it will do it incrementally until complete so you don't have to do a mega car journey or leave the head unit running on battery power to complete it. Just keep the SD card in until it reports on screen that the update is complete.

Thanks

Chris

I've just loaded the V12 mapping to my unit. I can't really say much yet apart from after testing a whole 4 miles of driving with the nav on everything seems to be ok.

The install went ok, thus far all good. I can give you a better idea after tomorrow, a better test drive, bear with me on that.

I messaged Chris to just tell him the above really and where I got the update from, bear with me on that too.

Just to update my post....

Navigation working fine, not encountered any glitches so a happy bunny with the map  update I purchased.

AMD87 messaged you yesterday re the update, hope this helps.

eBay was my source, have a search, £23 ain't a bad price, quick delivery.

I ordered a V12 card forgetting about all the issues with the V10/11...

Has everyone's sat nav been okay since upgrading to V12?

Thanks in advance

I’ve tried V12 maps, at first glance it seems to be brilliant...

and then you try postcodes, nearly all of which are missing from the history of my travel on mine. To make things worse work which has been there 50yrs and my house which has been there 200 years and everything in between do not exist in the postcode database.

unsure if this is a one off problem or everyone has it, I’ve asked some folk on the Skoda Facebook group to try some postcodes for me.

@globalste where/who did you source your V12 maps card from? Can’t say I’ve had the issues you are having. Only had one postcode-based nav attempt fail (and that was the COVID-19 drive-in testing centre In the E2 Staff Car Park at Heathrow, rather than a conventional commercial building or home), so not overly surprised the postcode was not in the database.

I got it from an online nav shop, not a dealership. Have asked for another card so will see what happens!  Does yours show rh76jl, tw62qd or so160ys?  Where did you get yours from Chris?
