Did you notice some issues during cold start?
Did you notice vibration during 2-cylinder mode between 1400-1600 rpm?
Which is software version of your ECU?

Yesterday and early today I noticed a slight vibration at low speed with 2 cyl mode. It's nothing worrying but it's like a smal resonance.

On motorway speed above 2000rpm there are no.

I remembered your comment, do you have any insight on this?

I have vibration during 2-cylinder mode between 1400-1600rpm. It is present when you hold a little gas pedal but not enaugh to get out of 2-cylinder mode. I don't have vibrations on higher rpms in 2-cylinder mode but it have some noise like opened rear window (similar). When car isn't in 2-cylinder mode vibration and noise aren't present.

You got a photo of them working?

Sorry been busy at work and not checked back here for a while.

For security they need further proof of ID for the lock unlock feature :

Many dealers / owners are not aware of how & what they need to do to fully set up all the features of the connect system. I think its mainly due to a lack of training / interest from sales people.

On mk4 its

205/60-16

205/55-17

225/45-18

That are some very bad tyre sizes IMO.

For example here an Uniroyal RS 5 in 225/45/r17 size  cost 68 Euro /tyre. So if you want the same tyre for MK4 in a 205/55/r17 size it will cost you 97 Euro/tyre and 225/45/r18 will cost you 109 Euro/tyre   .

Another con for the new mk4

That's a disadvantage of going from common tyre sizes to less common tyre sizes.

It's the same thing that happened when the Skoda Superb MK3 was introduced. The cheap 205/55R16 size that was on entry level Skoda Superb MK2 cars were replaced with the far more expensive 215/60R16 entry level size on Skoda Superb MK3 cars.

Hi Folks!

First thread here.

A week ago I bought the new Skoda Octavia mk4. Lava blue, 1.5 TSI and 6 speed manual.

So far so good.

The ride quality is excellent. A HUGE difference, compared to the previous model.  The materials, sound insulation, everything is top notch.

So...220 miles (100 highway :D) and I have two complaints:

- The Start/Stop system stopped working yesterday evening.

- That stupid Skoda Connect thing, I cannot figure it out :) and I have an advanced degree in IT. So clearly they are doing something wrong.

So this Start/Stop system - the system displays that there is an error. It was working fine till yesterday.

I start the car, nothing. No warnings nothing.

I get driving, and after it warms up, and I get to a traffic light instead of turning the car off - it says "Error Start/Stop system" and on the infotainment  - Sorry, this feature is currently unavailble.

So, planning to reach my dealer tomorrow.

I have had this car for a week, and I have to call the dealer?

That is a shaky start.

Thank god I bought the extended 5 years warranty :)

I have read the forum topics here. I went for a long drive, but nothing. It didn't fix it.

The fuel consumption is excellent though. 43MPG city driving with the A/C on and without the S/S system :)  though not so heavy traffic.

With heavy traffic I managed 38MPG (35*C, A/C on, bumper to bumper and Start/Stop ...working :)

Hi,

glad you are enjoying your new Octavia ...

can I ask. How’s the refinement holding up ( wind, road and engine noise) ?
I purchased my first Skoda 3 years ago( Octavia 16 plate mark3)  and if I’m honest I was really disappointed. Refinement was terrible. Def not relaxing on some motorway!  On the plus side the car was perfect size wise but overall refinement ruined it for me. Reviews seem a mixed bag on the new Octavia some say it’s really refined, some say not!
It’s getting close to new car time and I was walking away from Skoda however if they have improved the refinement I maybe back.

Actually with the whole COVID19 going on, I couldn't actually see and feel the new Octavia so me and my wife looked at the Mk3. We were a bit disappointed. We already have a Skoda Rapid 2017 in the family and it was not miles off that car, just a bit bigger and basically the same. Then a week before I bought mine, they brought the very first Lava Blue mk4. The quality of the materials and the difference is mind boggling.

You can go in the showroom and see for yourself. As for road noise they have added one more rubber stripping in the doors (like in the Passat) to make it quieter.

All in all I think money wise you cannot get better than this.

That's IMHO.

My second/third choice would be a Hybrid Toyota Corolla Wagon or my wife's favorite Tuscon.

That's correct, mine's 45 litres.

Combustion Octavia is 45 litres, PHEVs are 40 litres

5200km so far.

No issues to report. Except for a weird rear dome light that comes on for unknown reasons.

Infotainment freezes from time to time, but I easily restart it. This especially happens when I hook up my phone with the cable to use Android Auto.

Other that that, nothing else to report. So far so good.
