standard 30-70mph

Featured Replies

just a quick question for you guys. could you please tell me the 30-50, 50-70 and 30-70mph timmings for a standard fabia vrs. i have searced but all the figures seem to be for remaped cars .cheers

Taken from Autocar mag.

Their long termer did:-

30-50 (in third) 3.6sec

50-70 (in sixth) 11.2sec

30-70 (thro' gears) 7.6 sec

30-70mph I timed mine fairly accrurately at 7.2±.2 secs through the gears.

Auto car timed there test car at 7.6 secs for the same. And 50-70mph at 11.2 secs in top gear.

EDIT: JON beat me to it... ;)

When people say through the gears, do they mean 2nd then 3rd? Surely it'd be quicker in 3rd? Mine is at 1800rpm in 3rd at 30 and is about 4-ish and 70, gets there in 7s +/- a bit. Same 30-50 in 3rd time, though.

Yes 2nd then 3rd. Remember autocars figures are for the older model with the leggier gearbox (should that make a difference?)

For a 30 - 70 I would start in 3rd, but thats my car, very unstandard. For standard I would think 2nd would be better as thats about a bit under 3000rpm IIRC, so have a good amount of power to use. Then 3rd should be able to touch 70 without having to find 4th (I think?)

80mph in third is no problem with the older gearbox...

I can get 80 in 3rd, probably 85 if I waited long enough, but the engine really struggles past 4.5k. But mine's a 5 speeder so it's probably irrelevant anyway.

reason im asking is i have been doing some timmings recently in my fabia vrs. it has a dragon tunning box on set to 16. and i wanted to compare standard to the box. i have 30-50 in third at aprox 3.2 sec, 50-70 in 4th 4.4sec and 30-70 starting in third then into fourth at 7.4 sec.

The only gear that was changed is 6th ;)

As for remapped vs standard - I definitely drive differently now it's remapped. Revving higher up if I want the highest performance for accelerating, but if I'm just driving about in a 30 zone I tend to be in a higher gear to avoid being around the point where the turbo kicks in (which is now a tad lower than it was on the standard map) to avoid 'hunting'

Me too. :) I also think 5th was slightly longer on the old box too, but 4th and below were the same. My fave gear for a 30mph zone is 5th. :D Pootle along around 1000/1100 rpm - it just chugs along with barely any throttle. Needs 4th for inclines though, else it starts hunting even that low down in the rev range.
