Servicing lead times

Featured Replies

Thought I'd ring up to find out how far ahead I'd need to book a service as even pre Covid it could be a couple of weeks plus. As it turned out as it's just the 2nd service which is just an oil change that could be squeezed in a couple of weeks but anything else would be sometime in September. Not sure I'd be very happy being careless for 6 weeks if my car developed a problem. This is Surrey is it the same elsewhere?

An Oil & Inspection service is not just an Oil Change. It is not much though.

If your car is under warranty and there was a fault that put it off the road you should not be left carless.

Skoda Assist / the Dealership can get you a car  at no cost to you.

I recently had one of these 'Oil & Inspection' services and waited in their 'lounge' with my eyes on the vehicle and unless they did the 'full road test' around the workshop all I got was the oil change.

To be fair they did ask me if there was anything wrong with the vehicle............

@Berisford

Was this part of a Service Plan that came with the car and you have paid for?

Is there no 'Health Check sheet' showing what was checked or supposedly checked and ticked off, tyre measurements etc?

No invoice?

?

Do you have the Body Condition report that Skoda are so keen to tell anyone with issues never got done?

They did send me a video of the underside of my car telling me the exhaust and brakes were in great shape but I'd hope so after 9000 miles. But in another year when it's out of warranty should I really have to wait 6 weeks to get something fixed. This isn't covid related, I've had a skoda since 2012 and the wait to get into the workshop has always seemed overlong but to be fair to skoda it seems pretty common. Too many cars not enough garages maybe.

1st included service provided as part of the Skoda finance deal - didn't get any paperwork - 'all on the system' !

@Berisford

You can ask for the paperwork after all otherwise you have nothing.

They can print it, and now they can email it.

Plenty good places hand that over in a little folder of cardboard without being asked.

@SurreySlowCoach

'Simply Clever' is no longer use the 'Main Dealership', use an Independent Specialist with all the gear and more than an idea because Qualified Master Techs that left the VW network will have gone there to work or set up a business where Customer Care matters and a good job done for a fair price and customers that want to come back as repeat customers without feeling ripped off.
