The diameter of the front brake discs are easy to measure. It will probably be either 276mm or 288mm on the Skoda Octavia MK3 1.6TDI.

If the car has code PR-1ZE then the diameter of the front brake discs is 288mm. If the car has code PR-1ZF then the diameter of the front brake discs is 276mm.

Thank you but stupid question how do I find the vehicle code?

It will be on the PR code sticker, which should be in either the manual and/or somewhere on the boor floor.

Probably won't Dave, front brake PR codes seem to rarely be there, sadly.

That's a PITA, where do you reckon it will be then? Online only?

As @Carlston suggested, probably easiest to measure.  My top tip is to go round the circumference with a tape measure or piece of string, then divide that number by pi (3.14).

Knowing the possibles makes it relatively easy to figure out which you have even with slight measuring inaccuracy.

I’m trying to source rear discs for an 2017 estate factors appear to only have one listing but the hub is thicker on my car.

£150 from the dealer it appears 😬

Rear brake PR code does tend to be on the data sticker, it probably starts with 1K, followed by a D an S, or a T.  Last two diagrams here show the part numbers for those options: https://skoda.7zap.com/en/cz/octavia/oct/2016-753/6/ That site doesn't go up to 2017, so not sure if anything changed beyond 2016.

What's the height of each of those?

As far as I can see, 51mm should be right. (But see below, 'cos it isn't)

Any part number markings on the old ones? Presumably original factory fitted?

Ah, well done, you're sorted then.

61mm instead of 51; interesting...

I'll edit my last reply accordingly.

Seems like they will do the job, interesting the factors don’t seem to have any other option that the 51mm. Thanks for your help.

Hit and miss whether it's working from one try to the next, in my experience, but yes, when it is, it's great.

I must be lucky with my vin as it works every time for me. Just to make sure though I made a pdf backup and stored it on my pc - it makes life even easier.

I had success a few times, a while back, with two or three different VINs, but I thought a few folk that had tried it recently had no luck.

Perhaps @Bigtow would like to give it a go.  I would try it for him, but if something bad happened to/with his VIN I wouldn't want it to be on me.

He wants fronts though, it's the other fella that was after rears for a different car.

Ops sorry for confusing the thread😬

Will have a look at that link when I get home from work and will give the local dealer a bell to see if they can shed some light on the subject. I am just not paying dealer prices to have them change disks and pads for over £300

This site is a godsend. It lists every pr code for your car. You'll find the front and rear brake disc codes along with a lot of other extra codes not even shown in your handbook or sticker:

the nice man at skoda said the pr code is 1zf and they should be 276mm
