Fold-down Rear Seats

Featured Replies

Just getting to know my 2011 Skoda Superb hatchback, and I cannot find a way to lift the rear seat squab to fold down the rear seats level. I checked the manual and it says that the seat base is lifted, moved forward, and raised vertically; rather like my wife's VW Polo I guess. However, I have struggled to lift the seat up but it seems solid. And just dropping the seat backs down seems to only give a 45 degree platform. What am I doing wrong?

From the edge of the seat nearest the front of the car (NOT back) give it a pull upwards. It will only come up a couple inches, but will then pivot towards the front of the car allowing you to then lift the back (nearest the backrest) of the cushion so it fully lifts and pivots flat against the back of the front seats

Thank you both for your replies, I have managed to lift the seat base now. But not as I expected; with a REALLY firm wrench, the whole seat base popped out of two clips (one on each side), but no sign of any hinges or connections of any sort. The whole seat squab came free, and presumably owners can lift it out and leave it at home, or lift it vertically and hold it against the back of the front seats while the backs are folded down and held in place. Very strange. But at least the platform is more or less flat, giving me a load space like the back of a Transit! Amazing.
