Firmware update

I'm on 0245

What is the latest version?

I've just updated my maps to the 2020/2021 version so was interested to see if there were any updates available for my car's firmware and I entered my VIN on the main Skoda web site and it only displays map updates.

Is there any need to update my car's firmware? What do you gain by doing so?

What is the latest version?

That depends on what infotainment system you have.

Is it an Amundsen or a Columbus?

Is it MIB1 or MIB2?

BTW the Skoda portal only offers updates to maps not firmware for the systems fitted to the Octavia 3.

How do I find out if its Amundsen or Columbus? And how do I know if its MIB1 or MIB2?

Here's a pic of what I've got:

Cool it's a 2016 vrs

So would you recommend upgrading the firmware? Or is it completely unnecessary if I'm not experiencing any issues? Do you get any extra features by upgrading such as apple car play or smart link?

Hi, I have mib2 Columbus and have an issue with the volume. It has been indicated to me that this may be an software issue. Is there any update to my existing software? Also, doing a factory reset, my infotainment being a retrofit, will affect the CP? Kind regards

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to get Android Auto (SmartLink) activated on my 2016 Octavia. I currently don’t have it enabled (I get the "contact your dealer" message).

I have the Technisat MIB2 unit with Navigation (two SD slots). My current software version is:

Train: MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0245T

I’m starting from scratch with no VCDS or OBDeleven tools. Is there a specific SD card patch available for this version that can handle the activation, or can someone point me in the right direction to get this sorted DIY?

Thanks in advance!

You need to speak with @pab567 who maybe able to assist. You need firmware 0253 (SOP2.x)

Hi,

I'm thinking I need to update the software on my Octavia Mk3 (late 2015) infotainment system - I believe the below is required:

5Q0 035 874A - MIB2 Skoda Amundsen

Installed SW train version: MST2_EU_SK_ZR_P0245T

Installed SW MU Version: 0245

Software version: H25.14.78_STD2Nav_EU

Much appreciated if you can tell me how to get the update and how to load it please.

Many thanks.

@moldaguus there is no SD card solution for your unit - it works ONLY for OEM sat nav units (Amundsen) and you have non-nav unit (Bolero) which requires soldering. If you are interested pls let me know - although I must have it on my bench in Poland.

@Gleni69 I sent a download link to 0253 in PM.

1. format SD (best max 32GB) under FAT32

2. unpack to root (metainfo2.txt and all the folders must be placed directly on SD, not in any folder)

3. insert SD card into the slot

4. enter Service Menu (long press MENU button)

Thanks @pab567 the update worked eventually, but maybe a tip for the benefit of other newbies. It kept failing to start with and this was because I was getting to the update button via Settings and then scrolling down to system information and clicking the update button from there - this then brings up an error reading the card. Whereas, if you follow the advice (trust me to find a different approach that doesn't work) to just hold in the menu button for a few seconds and then go to update from there it works!

Remains to be seen if the system will now be more stable and if it fixes the bug whereby when playing music via Bluetooth the track description gets stuck on the first track you play - 🤞

Dear @pab567, could I also have the link you sent to @Gleni69? Thanks in advance.

Newby on here. I've got the Amundsen mib2 system on my 2015 5e5 estate, there seems to be a bug on it which means the touchscreen presses itself constantly. I was going to get it booked into a local vag service centre to get looked at. Anyone have experience with this? Is it software and needs update I could download myself, or more than likely the touchscreen itself? Cheers
