Eml light.

Featured Replies

Hi folks. Wondering if anybody can help me on this please.  I was coming down the motorway on Monday and my eml light came on after I gave it a boot full, so I got home plugged my dyno in and got the following code: p2196 02 sensor signal biased/ stuck rich bank 1 sensor 1. Have tried researching but with little success has anybody had this at all. My car is a mk2 Octavia vrs tdi

Could be oxygen sensor is needing cleaned or replaced, you can soak them in petrol for a few hours and see it it helps.

Ok thank you are they easy to replace?

Easy on these cars other cars you need a special socket but really just unscrew and detach at cable end if you need to remove the whole system.

They often sit under the manifold heat shield hence the special socket however on my car it's on the side of the cylinder head or block.

Sorted thank you bud May give it a go or book it in with mechanic. Strange thing is it only does it if I give it a boot full

Just an update. Took a look at my oxygen sensor yesterday and found a small hole in the plastic cover on the cable but couldn’t see if the actual wires have been damaged so I ordered a new sensor as it looks like it’s seen better days. New one cost me £87. (Bosch).
