2007 octavia estate door switch

Featured Replies

Estate door will not open manually but will still open pressing the key fob. Problem started yesterday when the door wouldn’t stay locked and i had to keep getting out to close it. Finally locked the doors once back inside and that seemed to work. Got home and about an hour later the alarm went off. Locked the car and its been fine since as in it stays closed and no false alarm but cant open without using key fob.

My initial thought was dead battery cell perhaps as i had multiple electrical problems on an old rover due to battery  but not had time to test anything yet.

Any thoughts or similar experiences ?

Thanks in advance

Your post is a bit ambiguous, maybe it's my dyslexia...

If you cannot open the driver's door by physically inserting your key into the lock and turning it but can by pressing the unlock button on the key I would say the lock electrics/door wiring are at fault.

Try a good squirt of WD-40 into the lock with the straw adaptor for a start.

Hi MicMac,  its not the drivers door its the estate door or boot whatever you want to call it. There isn’t a key hole just the rubber shrouded switch above the number plate which wont work. Hope that clarifies it.

It sounds like the switch/wiring under the tailgate rubber cover needs investigation.
