EPC light + Start Stop error on brand new Fabia 1.0TSI

Featured Replies

Hi everybody,

Wondering if you can give me some quick feedback.

I recently purchased a 1.0 TSI 95hp combi and it's been running like a dream. When I say brand new, I say it just reach 700km.

Yesterday I turned it on and had the EPC light on, with my start stop refusing to work. The car doesn't seem to be running in safe mode, and there are no other errors / lights poping on. All lights are ok, every single system works as intended, and the fuse boxes dont show any blown fuses.

Just wondering what else I could check prior to taking it in to the dealer to be checked. My theory is that the start stop is messed up and is triggering the EPC light, not the other way around.

Thanks!

I called them and they told me to take it to a dealer since the vehicle runs normal.

Update: Apparently the car had a glitch and the ECU thought it was in transport mode, even though it wasn't and was driving. They cleared the error and reconfirmed it wasn't in transport mode. all sorted.

I don't know what transport mode is; but on the balance of probabilities it seems much more likely to me that the car was delivered to you in this mode, than some hypothetical glitch being responsible.

As I was told, and this may be bull****, transport mode is whatever the car is set to when being transported. It shouldn't even run.

It ran fine for two weeks, and was running fine, but the EPC light turned on randomly and actually turned off today while driving there.

Sounds more like a glitch than them forgetting something, but in any case, it wasn't anything major.

PSA have a shunt mode from the factory. ( where/when you were only shunting the car around. )

During the PDI ( Pre Delivery Inspection ) you had to remove the shunt fuse.

Cool. Coming from a software background, I'm going to attribute this to a glitch for now, but if it returns, I'm gonna call it some sort of hardware fault 😁
