Is there any way of knowing

Featured Replies

If the car has been re-mapped. Im picking up the rs wrc tomorrow(yipeee)

Went out for a roadtest and it feels very quick. Just wondered if you could tell.

Cheers

Dan

Someone who has driven both will be able to tell quite easily.

What is almost impossible to tell is if a car has been remapped then put back to standard

Stick it on a rolling road....

fit a boost gauge

race a fabia - if the octy is std you will win..

if its remapped you will be amazed Fabias can reverse that quick...

or more seriously ask the supplying dealer - they should know.

Get VAG COM.

As Mr. Lummox said, VagCom can show you boost readings and other stuff that will confirm a remap. Also, to the educated ear, the whistle of the turbo could tell weather its running on stock or high boost. Another way to "feel" the remap is to see at what part of the rev range you get the full kick. On stock boost, after 2000rpm everything feels the same (its linear). When remapped, full boost comes a bit later (in my car, around 2500-2800rpm).
