1st Skoda but definitely not 1st VAG

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I was having a poke around this site last night and found a lot of very useful information so have registered today and wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I purchased my 1st Skoda on Friday, Well actually I did own a mk1 vrs for about 3 hours 10 years ago but ended up reversing the deal due to an unreasonable seller. Always felt I had unfinished business with this brand  so when this car was offered to me I just couldn't say no. I have always been a VAG guy with a few randoms in between, started out at 14 with my 1st beetle restoration and then did another along with a bay window van as father son projects, Later I had a fully restored and built mk2 golf 16v, 2 corrado 16v's,  a mk1 sportline cab, a 2.7lux 944,  a 180bhp mk4. and a passat b5.5 tdi estate.

The car has probably appeared here before but I haven't come across any posts about it yet,  it did have a lot fueling related problems for the 2 previous owners but after a lot of money had been spent these have now been resolved and the car is sweet as a nut.

The car is a 2007 wagon with the tfsi engine, There has been some mods carried out but am still working through everything that has been done, a RamAir Kit was fitting few weeks ago and also has a rear box delete pipe. I am told it it has been mapped and does feel like it but not exactly sure what kinda power it is pushing.  Spec seems great after coming out of an bmw e46 msport cab, Octavia even has NAV and Xenon headlamps which are freaking awesome.

Plans so far are to get it through its NCT ( Like MOT ), New tyres and a wheel reburb... once all that is outta the way I will be looking at spacing wheels a little and a few other OEM+ touches. At the moment my focus is working on get the paint into the best condition I can.

So Seems like its taken ages but I finally got my 19" peelers on at the weekend, wheels are used and not perfect but will prob get refurbed to get rid of curb marks closer to the summer.

Amazing how I opened with the wheels when so much else has happened over the past few weeks.

* Repaired wiring loom from ecu to throttle body

* 4x New shocks and springs with a wee 20mm drop

* New Trailing arm bushings

* New brake pads all round

* new tyres for new wheels

* 2 x new rear brake calipers

* Full brake fluid flush ( what came out looked like day 1 factory :@ )

* new flexi brake hoses

* new handbrake cables

* new trailing arm bushes

Still to come ( parts in just no time )

* second brake fluid flush

* reversing camera

* extra hidden usb charge points

Next big job will be some body work, few bits id like to get painted then full paint correction and a ceramic coating .
