Just swapped to Kamiq from Karoq- delighted so far

By contacting Skoda (UK) directly I had no problems getting both my Yeti's with 16" wheels rather than standard 17". You have to find the name of the Chief executive and email him directly, he will pass your request onto a Sales Exec who will intercept the dealer order and change so factory fits 16" wheels. Also got exceptional service from dealer and on pick up they all fell over themselves to make sure I had everything I needed. Dealer himself came to check that everything was perfect. Guess there was some liaison with Skoda HQ.!

Robjon, been having a good think this afternoon. My current Yeti SEL Drive has done less than 28k and I chose the exact options I wanted when I bought it new in March 2017, so, I have decided to keep it for at least one more year. Really it has everything I want and the elevated driving position I prefer. So, as my wife says, why change it - particularly as I bought the extended warranty?

Guess I was hankering after a new car but realistically anything else on the market at the moment will be a compromise and a step back from the Yeti!

Do continental prices work out cheaper for the buyer in France than the UK? I have always felt that the equivalent model in the UK is more expensive compared to our continental counterparts. Of course manufacturers may change specification levels to make a comparison more difficult.

I had the same conundrum with the Karoq, it had five year warranty so three to run, but what the heck, shrouds don't have pockets, if you want to do it, do it and enjoy the new car, I think you would be amazed at the progress the Kamiq gives. things move so fast these days, I love the digital dash  for instance with a choice of five different views/ displays, not vital I know but really nice to have and gives the car some extra interest. Your dosh your decision, just my view on things. My life experiences make me think this way, but we're all different, and who's to say who's right. whatever you do, enjoy!

No definitely not. prices over here are ludicrous by comparison. all in mine was just under 35000 euros  about £31000 at today's rates, got a good discount of around 4000 euros, but big advantage over here is the comparatively slower rate of depreciation. got, what I considered, an excellent exchange on the Karoq so changed for about just over 8000 euros , two years old Karoq to fully loaded Kamiq 1.5tis dsg. lost touch with what's happening in the uk, but my last experiences on depreciation were horrid. seriously some of the prices here for used cars make buying new a  no brainer, but just that bit more expensive I think

What was the malus charge on first registration?

 

Better still what was the overall cost for the carte grise?

Hi JR,

 

the Malus charge was 280 euros, the carte grise 414.76 euros and the delivery pack 390 euros ( nice little earner). The options list seems to be worked differently here and different from that as advertised on Skoda Fr. website, but being as the figures worked in my favour I accepted them!

My SEL has the 18 inch wheels. I was a bit worried the fide would be bad but to be honest it's been fine.

Just don't understand why smaller wheels are no an option.

I have 16 inch winters so for a few months it will run on them.

Also don't understand why the option of "All Season" tyres is not available.

I agree re all season tyres, but I suppose the factories are tied into contracts negotiated on bulk supply basis. Just as an aside I changed to Micheline Cross Climates when I had my 2017 superb hatch, and it transformed the car, deadly accurate steering response and wet weather grip amazing. never had opportunity to drive in snow, but the ratings are good, I will definitely put them on the Kamiq when the time comes to change

Finally picked her up last week and so far very happy. Still finding my way around the tech things.

 

I am baffled by the trip meter as I can't find any information on how to rest it.

 

Satnav could be better. My plug-in Garmin gives me a choice of fastest/shortest/eco-friendly but I'm not sure what the Skoda one is choosing. On the plus side, it does say "please" which pleases me. It is also difficult to input addresses. I'm used to starting with a postcode or looking through a menu on supermarkets/shops etc. I'm sure it will all make sense one day.

I have the SE and my trip reset is on my dash just under my dials directly in line with the steering wheel. It's a very sensitive button and resets if you happen to just tap it, no need to hold it down for a few seconds as the trip (I think) is the only thing it resets

Thank you. I'll give that a try. Why it's not in either the paper nor electronic manual escapes me.

 

I was trying to work out why the stop/start was erratic. Apparently the car decides!

It's on page 51 of the electronic manual that I've got.

p.s. although it does say "Analogue Instrument Panel" which mine isn't the button is still there.

Press CAR then settings scroll to instrument cluster press then scroll to the bottom it’s the very last one

if you want to enter a postcode click the envelope top right. Or say ok Laura and say enter postcode then say the postcode

I have a Kamiq with the Amundsen and the Virtual Cockpit and it took some effort to find how to reset the "Trip" meter.

You can do it from the steering wheel controls once you have the right Virtual Cockpit menu. I'll post a picture tonight.

Strange purchase decisions. You downgraded from a Superb to a Karoq and now downgraded to a Kamiq?? A Kamiq is a tiny tin can compared to a Superb.

I would never judge another's purchase decision as strange, without knowledge of the decision making process,you may see it as a downgrade, I don't, hence my purchase. Purchase decisions are not only objective,but subjective too. I also run a citigo and new fiat ducato campervan. all bought for differing reasons. As for your assertion of the Kamiq being, relatively, a tiny tin can, shows a real lack of appreciation of the car itself. I've run 6 Superbs over the past ten years, great cars, but then I did long distance stuff, carrying a lot of gear, I find the Kamiq a much more pleasant and responsive car than the Karoq, and very Golf like to drive ( hardly a tin can I feel). If you judge cars by square footage of sheet metal as the overriding criteria, I think it's a flawed process. Horses for courses, as they say, and each to his/ her own.  over the years I've driven most stuff, from basic ( austin 1100/ ford escort) to exotic ( Citroen SM/ Maserati's) low and high performance. Apart from a WartburgKnight with Zero brakes, I've learned to appreciate what makes a car, but don't criticise other's choices as they are personal decisions!
