Wash Mitt Recommendations

Featured Replies

Hello!

This might be a bit of a boring question, but after my original wash mitt (Wilko own brand) disintergrated after my last car wash, I'm wonder what do you lovely people use and what they recommend?

I've only ever used dirt-cheap micofibre ones, but I'm curious to know if all wash mitts basically the same or are there any real benefits to getting different branded ones/different makes?

Thanks,

I've got cheap ones from Tesco that are a couple of years old and still going strong.  Go through the washing machine every few weeks, or if I drop them.  Haven't felt the need to buy anything more expensive.

They pre-date the current Simoniz ones advertised on Tesco.

Closest thing to those I've got:

Autosmart, auto finesse or Gtechniq do some nice wash mitts.

Lots of info on detailing world https://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/search.php?searchid=60754647

and if you have 20 odd minutes for Youtube and shows how they behave under the microscope, I`ve used a few but TBH don`t feel qualifiedor have noticed that uch diffence between them- though I don`t mind it helpfull to put my hand inside the mitt apart from using the Halfords glove when doing the wheels https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-cleaning/wheel-and-tyre-cleaning/halfords-microfibre-wheel-glove-191373.html

Sorry about all the typos above 😬

Having just watched a few minutes of the youtube video I don`t think its a very good method of checking wash mitts

8 years ago when I joined this lovely forum, found this part of it...and got the `detailing bug`.

Following advice from very knowledgeable members at the time I set myself up with quite a few products.

Among them was a Lambswool Mitt. I still use it occasionally now and its still going strong.

I have since got a couple of `noodle mitts` from Halfords and most recently took delivery of a washpad (Incredipad from Polished Bliss).

I choose which to use for no particular reason and they all work really well.

If you pushed me I'd say the `Incredipad` is my fave...as long as you remember its a `pad` and not a `mitt` and make sure you don't drop it!!!

Dont think you can beat a lambswool mitt personally 👍

+1 I use a Meguiars, at least for the top half of the car, for the lower bumpers, bottom of the door/sills I use a Meguiars microfibre wash mit, just because its easy to throw in the washing machine whereas it said not to machine wash the lambswool so I havn't

That's interesting coz I've had my lambswool mitt for 8 years now and machine washed it many many time with no adverse effects. Its still a goodun.

In that case I might start washing mine with the rest, was afraid it would fall apart seen as it specifically said not to machine wash.

My lambswool ended up looking like some drunk bloke had sheared it. 😄

Good old phone screwed that post up🥴

My two favourites are the Microfibre Madness Incredimit and Dooka wash pad.

Ive tried various lambs wool washmits in the past but they’ve all fallen to pieces sooner rather than later (probably user error) but the Dooka pad has lasted for about 8 years and is still going strong (purchased through here on a group buy). The incredimit seems quite indestructible.

I have  a Halfords sheepskin mit which is ok, (was a xmas present), One of these however after a year it has started to fall apart, so I'm after a new one.

I am very tempted to buy a Microfiber madness incredimit as they get good reviews and should last longer than my current one, however at the moment, I can't seam to find anywhere with them in stock.

I have the incredimit and it is pretty good, had it a few years, though got to admit should have been  using it more often. Looks like clean and shiny have it in stock though would have to pay postage buying online https://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/
