A conservative remap and thank you JabbaSport

OK, thanks. Would this be removed with a better flywheel when changing the clutch then, if you're going 190+ bhp.

No one makes an uprated DMF to my knowledge.

Another route is to replace the whole DMF with a single Helix kit.

And then replace the gearbox when that breaks

Which wont be covered under warranty

My flywheel is machined down which "might" help it cope better with torque - The main reason its done is to match up with the uprated clutch plates I have. :)

I've got the uprated pressure plate + clutch - need to go for the phase 2 still though to find out if I get trouble with the DMF :)

Hi

How does this sound for a possibility?

Heavy torque on remapped cars is expected to prematurely wear out clutches. Trouble is that cluthces dont wear enless they are slipping. A fully engaged clutch does not wear if no slip is happening.

So... what if the problem is caused by DMF shake or bottoming out? It possibly works like this... The DMF either winds up and dischages its torque, the various resonances conspire to make the clutch momentarily slip with each unwinding stroke, so the clutch is slipping in pulses, OR the DMF springs bottom out and the full force of the fired piston is stuck through the clutch, again causing minute slips of the clutch at each firing pulse. Both of these would cause the clutch to fail early as it would be slightly slipping under maximum torque, but not enough to slip fully or noticably in the early stages of its destruction.

Either way, the torque capped remap was ordered to try to avoid the problem. The car is really smooth all the way through the rev range, and is an absolute joy to drive. I came home the scenic route tonight and had a real nice time lunging down the country lanes between 2300 and 3750rpm, the car absolutely flying with relentless shove and absolutely no fuss at all.

The quality of the driving experience is testament to JabbaSports skills. Power is progressive, there appears to be no nasty inconsistencies or rough running areas, all behavoiur on part throttle is excellent and the engine is quieter than standard. The car feels like it was meant to be this way from the factory. You gotta wonder why it was not.

Anyone not sure about a remap? Get yourself to Jabba pronto.

It sure sounds like a good way to go :) & I can see how the DMF vs clutch thing could work. In my case the clutch should cope with the torque as it's uprated but that still wouldn't solve the DMF issue with it's vibrations.

I've got a hybrid turbo as well so it will like higher revs better too - I'm kinda hoping a similar map to yours can be custom mapped for me (different tuner but similar skills :) )

Must be great fun to drive though

Hi

As far as I can tell, the DMF vibration is a result of the springs loading and unloading, so until you bottom them out completely, the main issue will be caning the clutch. If you have uprated it, this must help.

Regards the power at higher revs, we had to back off fuelling at the higher revs to protect the turbo. With it fuelling well at the top end, there was a little smoke and a feeling that the turbo was working outside of what Jabba consider to be reasonable for a standard unit. With the hybrid turbo, you will be removing this limit, so should be good for seroius horespower.

Oh and it is loads of fun to drive. I donk know if the engine management has fine tuned itself or if it was the cool air here last night, but the car seemed to drive even better than the day it was mapped. Best
