Suspension Upgrade

Featured Replies

Hi folks,

I’m considering treating my motor to a few minor tweaks and have been reading on here people’s experience with uprated suspension on their Fabias.  Mine is a 2011 1.2 TSI Elegance. I’m looking at the -40mm H&R springs. I’m not wanting to break the bank on this, but wondering if there are any other upgrades i should do at the same time? My plan was to inspect the shocks and see if there’s any sign they need replacing at the same time, I think they’re the originals and the car is only just on 40k miles...would be curious to know any thoughts on this!

Thanks

If you don't uprate the shocks it's likely to be a bit bouncy on those springs, especially the rebound, but if you're mainly a town driver then it'll be ok without.

What shocks would be recommended paired with the H&Rs?

Okay, I'm looking more at the price and tempted to go https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-car/skoda/fabia-mk2-5j/ap-coilovers-skoda-fabia-5j-09/ or https://www.awesomegti.com/shop-by-brand/kw/kw-variant-1-coilovers-skoda-fabia-5j/

Seen a few comments about APs being the budget set of the two but how much difference does this really make? Most of my driving is commute through town roads, some country road driving, no track and nothing crazy....I'm mainly looking to reduce body roll (it really is a boat) and improve the handling without sacrificing comfort. I've seen a few people even say they find the ride improved on coilovers vs stock which I found surprising. I've only ever run stock suspension so this is all new to me!
